{blackbabes} Serena, Djokovic, Nadal start Monday at US Open

World number ones Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic will launch their bids for the US Open title on Monday's first day of competition, tournament organisers announced Friday. In a Twitter posting, the tournament said the top halves of brackets in both the men's and women's draws would play matches on the first day of competition. That means three-time defending champion Williams, trying to complete the first calendar-year Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988, will meet Russia's Vitalia Diatchenko on day one, while Djokovic, seeking his second US Open crown, will face Brazil's Joao Souza. Djokovic's possible quarter-final opponent, Spain's Rafael Nadal, begins Monday against Croatia's Borna Coric.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams could face Sharapova in US Open semifinal

NEW YORK (AP) -- Serena Williams could face Maria Sharapova for her second straight major semifinal as she seeks to complete the Grand Slam at the U.S. Open.

Thursday's draw filled the top-ranked Williams' quarter of the bracket with Americans, nine in all.

In the third round, Williams could face 29th-seeded Sloane Stephens, who beat her in the 2013 Australian Open and is coming off her first WTA title in Washington this month. Another up-and-coming U.S. player, 19th-seeded Madison Keys, could await in the fourth round.

And in the quarterfinals, one potential opponent is her sister, 23rd-seeded Venus Williams. Another possible quarterfinal foe is 12th-seeded Swiss teen Belinda Bencic, who recently upset Williams in Toronto en route to a breakthrough title.

Williams is seeking to complete the first Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988. She beat Sharapova in the semifinals of Wimbledon for her 17th straight victory over the Russian on the way to her second ''Serena Slam'' - four major championships in a row, but just not in the same year.

Second-seeded Simona Halep and fourth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki, who lost to Williams in last year's U.S. Open final, are in the other half of the draw.

On the men's side, second-seeded Roger Federer and No. 3 Andy Murray could meet in one semifinal, with No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 4 Kei Nishikori, last year's runner-up, in the other.

Djokovic could face Rafael Nadal, who's seeded just eighth, in the quarterfinals. Nadal has a tough first-round match against fast-rising 18-year-old Borna Coric of Croatia, who just missed out on a seed with a ranking of 35th in the world and last year won their only head-to-head meeting.

Murray has an intriguing opening match with another young player who just missed out on a seed, 37th-ranked Nick Kyrgios.

The 20-year-old Australian comes into the U.S. Open with controversy swirling around him, facing a provisional suspension from the ATP for comments made to Stan Wawrinka in Montreal. During their match Aug. 12, a courtside microphone picked up Kyrgios saying that fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis had slept with a player who reportedly is now Wawrinka's girlfriend.

Kyrgios has given Murray little trouble on the court, losing in straight sets in this year's Australian and French Opens.

Nishikori could face defending champ Marin Cilic, who's seeded ninth, in the quarters in a rematch of last year's final.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams shrugs off ‘elephant in the room’

NEW YORK — Serena Williams is trying to ignore "the elephant in the room" ahead of the U.S. Open.

"I'm OK with it. I'm really not even talking about it," the tennis pro said at an event in New York on Wednesday.

If she wins the U.S. Open, which starts Aug. 31, it will be her fifth straight major title and the first calendar Grand Slam by a woman since Steffi Graf did it in 1988.

Williams instead channeled any nervous energy into singing at a karaoke night sponsored by Delta Air Lines, now in its second year. Before the show, she said she was more worried about her song choice than her tennis game.

"I'm going to make a game time decision. I always get so nervous every year like, 'I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do,"' she said.

Williams, 33, ended up choosing "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid," complete with dance moves and Caribbean accent.

"We just kind of wanted to celebrate just kicking off (the) U.S. Open and having fun and relaxing and enjoying it," said Williams.

Kei Nishikori, who is seeded fourth for the U.S. Open, also was there.

After having to withdraw from the Cincinnati Masters because of fatigue and a hip injury, Nishikori said he's now doing well.

"I'm feeling pretty good. After (Montreal) I took one week off," he said. "I couldn't play Cincinnati, but otherwise I'm feeling pretty good and my tennis is, you know, getting better and feeling very solid."

Other celebrities in attendance included Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba and Jason Biggs of Netflix's "Orange is the New Black," singer Estelle and actor Alan Cumming.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams isn’t dating Drake

Serena Williams is not dating Drake, despite reports they were seen looking very close at dinner, multiple sources tell Page Six.

The pair was photographed "making out" at Sotto restaurant in Cincinnati on Sunday, according to TMZ, just hours after he watched her win at the Women's Tennis Association tournament.

The world's top player and the 28-year-old Canadian rapper were seen sitting closely together in a private room at the back of the restaurant.

But a source told Page Six, "Serena briefly dated Drake around 2011 and even though it didn't end that well, they have remained friends since. He has been at her side at a lot of tournaments recently, including Wimbledon in July, where he sat in her box next to her sister Venus.

"Serena is single at the moment and is focused on winning the US Open, and making history."

Serena, 33, the most dominant player in the history of women's tennis enters next week's US Open on a high note after winning her fifth title of the year and the 69th of her career. She is aiming to become the first woman since 1988 to complete a calendar-year grand slam.

We are told Serena is working hard to keep her mind solely on tennis, and her team doesn't want Drake being a distraction from her winning at Flushing Meadows. The tournament starts next Monday.

Serena has also been recently linked to her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, who has helped her to huge success, but the sources say they are also no longer romantically involved.

Following her split from Drake in 2011, the tennis player had said, "I do make mistakes — like every human does. But the last relationship was too much of a heartbreak for me."

But another source close to Drake said he and Serena "have been off and on for a while, they like each other but it is not anything serious. They are both too busy."

Reps for Williams and Drake didn't get back to us.

{blackbabes} Lynn Whitfield, Desiree Ross & Merle Dandridge Cast In OWN Drama ‘Greenleaf’

Lynn Whitfield (The Josephine Baker Story), Merle Dandridge (The Night Shift) and Desiree Ross (Falling Skies) are the first actors cast in OWN's megachurch drama series Greenleaf, from Craig Wright and Lionsgate TV.

Greenleaf focuses on the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Greenleaf World Ministries is described as the center of the community for the thousands of predominantly African-American members who attend services there. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity — greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values — a multigenerational matrix of deception that involves the church's founding family but also extends to the congregation and prominent members of the Memphis community and beyond. Yet, amidst all of the mayhem and deception, the power of something greater persists, calling everyone to conscience for their sins. Oprah Winfrey and Wright are exec producing.

Whitfield will play Bishop Greenleaf's imperious wife Lady Mae, a steely woman who loves money and power and will do absolutely anything to protect her position as the First Lady of Greenleaf World Ministries. Dandridge is Lady Mae's estranged daughter Grace, a disillusioned former preacher who returns home after having fled her contentious family 20 years ago. Ross plays Grace's teenage daughter, Sophia, who finds her new extended family and extravagant new surroundings a welcome change from her previously isolated, middle-class life in Phoenix.

Zendaya is set to guest star on the second season of Black-ish, PEOPLE can exclusively announce.

Since Resheida doesn't have a father, she immediately takes to
Emmy nominee Anthony Anderson's Dre, agreeing with his belief that all dads should be respected, according to a character description from ABC.

The former Disney star made her mark in TV at an early age – in late 2009, Zendaya auditioned for Disney's Shake It Up and starred in the show alongside
Bella Thorne. After signing with Hollywood Records, the teen began working on her first solo album quickly and became one of the youngest contestants ever to appear on Dancing with the Stars.

Zendaya starts filming Black-ish next week, and the series returns to ABC on Sept. 23.

{blackbabes} Zoë Kravitz Says Mom Lisa Bonet Is 'Disgusted and Concerned' About Bill Cosby Scandal

Lisa Bonet, who played Bill Cosby's daughter Denise on The Cosby Show for seven years, is shocked by the rape allegations against her TV dad, her daughter Zoë Kravitz says.

Dope star Kravitz told
The Guardian in an interview published Thursday that Bonet, 47, "really hasn't" talked to her about the scandal.

"She'd plead the Fifth, even to me," said Kravitz, 26. "I think she's just staying out of it. She's just as disgusted and concerned as everyone else is, but I don't think she has any insight. It's news to her as well."

More than 40 women have come forward over the past year accusing Cosby, 78, of drugging and sexually assaulting them decades ago. (He has denied all the claims through his lawyer.) In November, someone pretending to be Bonet Tweeted criticism of Cosby, but her manager told PEOPLE the actress does not have any social media accounts.

"She's a very straightforward person," Kravitz added of her mother. "If there was something she felt the world needed to know that would help this case or help any women who had been abused, she would say something."

{blackbabes} Serena Wins Again, Federer defeats Djokovic for 7th Western & Southern title

CINCINNATI — Roger Federer jutted his right index finger toward the summer-blue sky to celebrate his latest Cincinnati title. He would have needed both hands to count all of them.

Might as well just rename it the Federer Open. Or maybe subtitle it the Djokovic Heartbreak.

Federer remained perfect in Cincinnati finals, winning an unprecedented seventh championship on Sunday while denying Novak Djokovic the one title that always eludes him. Federer never faced a break point during a 7-6 (1), 6-3 victory at the Western & Southern Open.

Serena Williams got her name on the Rookwood trophy for the second time on Sunday, beating Simona Halep 6-3, 7-6 (5) for back-to-back Cincinnati titles. She heads into the U.S. Open trying to become the first player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to pull off a calendar Grand Slam sweep.

Canadian Daniel Nestor and French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin needed less than an hour to win the men's double's title.

Nestor and Roger-Vasselin defeated Poland's Marcin Matkowski and Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic 6-2, 6-2 in 54 minutes. The 42-year-old Nestor now has five Cincinnati titles to his name.

It took Williams six tries before she got her first title. Federer has never failed.

The Swiss star is 7-0 in Cincinnati finals, which always brings out the best in him. He loves the fast-playing courts and the small-town atmosphere in suburban Cincinnati heading into the big-city pressure of the U.S. Open.

"I don't know how many years I can come back, but I'll try my best to be here many more years to come," Federer said.

No surprise there. Federer is the undisputed king of this court.

"He's very good on this centre court," Djokovic said. "He's more confident each year."

By contrast, the world's top-ranked player is 0-5 in Cincinnati championship matches, never winning so much as one set. Djokovic covets the title -- the only one he needs to become the first to win all nine of the current ATP Masters events.

"The fifth time I've been in the title (match) and never won this title, so I guess I have to wait for Roger to retire," Djokovic said. "I've been coming back each year wanting it more."

Federer feels for him.

"I really hope you can win here someday," Federer told him on court during the trophy presentations. "He deserves it. C'mon, so close."

In addition to Cincinnati, Federer has won seven titles at Dubai and Wimbledon, eight at Halle.

It was Federer's first tournament since he lost to Djokovic in the finals at Wimbledon. With the win, he'll be seeded second behind Djokovic at the U.S. Open.

Federer spent the last few weeks practicing in Switzerland, and he arrived in Cincinnati hoping to get his game smoothed out for the U.S. Open. His serve is right where he needs it. During his five matches in Cincinnati, Federer wasn't broken during 49 service games.

He faced only three break points all week, none on Sunday when he lost only 13 points during his 11 service games and the tiebreaker. Federer also won the 2012 title without having his serve broken all week.

Djokovic fought off four break points early in the first set, and Federer never gave up more than two points a game off his serve as it went to a tiebreaker. Djokovic became animated as he dumped three shots into the net during the tiebreaker, helping Federer take control. At that point, it was clear where this one was head.

Another Federer win. Another Djokovic disappointment.

Federer broke him and went up 3-0 in the second set. Djokovic fought off three breaks points during an 18-point game that pulled him within 4-2, but Federer held serve and closed it out when Djokovic returned a serve long. Then he raised his racket in his left hand and his right index finger in celebration.

One of seven.

Halep was the runner-up at Toronto a week earlier and was hoping to beat Williams for the second time in less than a year -- she upset her at the WTA Finals in October. Halep broke Williams' serve to open the match, but couldn't sustain it.

Williams won four of the last six points in the tiebreaker, winning it when Halep sliced a backhand shot into the net. And then, the talk about the Grand Slam sweep began.

"I know you can do four," Halep told her during the trophy presentation.

{blackbabes} Williams to meet Halep in Cincinnati final

Serena Williams brushed off some serving troubles before cruising to a 6-4 6-3 win over Elina Svitolina on Saturday and will meet Simona Halep in the Western & Southern Open final.

Williams's serve was off for a second consecutive match in Cincinnati and she committed 34 unforced errors but the world number one was never under serious threat from the 14th-seeded Ukrainian.

The American will bid to complete a calendar grand slam at her home U.S. Open from Aug. 31, a pursuit that kept her early struggles in perspective on Saturday.

"I wanted to not worry about this match, but worry about the next few matches and next few weeks and start playing better for that," Williams said in an on-court interview.

"I got off to a super slow start today but I started going for it and I think that helped me out."

She will defend her title against Romanian Halep who routed Jelena Jankovic 6-1 6-2 in the late semi-final.

Williams was broken early in the opening set, but her opponent could not keep the momentum or capitalize on the American's eight double-faults for the match.

Williams laced two straight backhand winners to break Svitolina's serve to move to 3-1 in the second set.

The 20-year-old Ukrainian broke back but Williams responded in kind to take control before sealing the match with an ace.

Halep's semi-final win secured her the second seeding behind Williams at the U.S. Open.

The aggressive base-liner converted seven of 10 break-points and was thrilled with her performance.

"I played great tennis tonight. I was confident and I think that's why I played my best tennis," she said.

"I have my chance tomorrow (against Williams) but I expect a tough match. With her you never know; you can win, maybe, or you can lose fast."

{blackbabes} Taye Diggs played matchmaker for Misty Copeland and her fiancé

Misty Copeland has Taye Diggs and hospitality guru David Rabin to thank for introducing her to her lawyer fiancé, Olu Evans.

Diggs pointed out Copeland to his cousin Evans on the dance floor at Rabin's former hot spot Lotus 11 years ago.

So it was fitting for Rabin to host their engagement party Thursday at his bar Jimmy at the James.

Copeland told us she was planning a party to toast her ABT promotion, but it became a double celebration after Evans proposed. Diggs, starring in Broadway's "Hedwig", celebrated with the couple.

{blackbabes} Tamera Mowry-Housley Jokes ‘Watch What You Pray For’ After Giving Birth to 10-Lb. Baby

Tamera Mowry-Housley never thought her wishes for a "chunky, plushy baby" would result in newborn daughter Ariah Talea weighing over 10 lbs. at birth.

"You have to watch what you pray for!" Mowry-Housley, 37, jokes to PEOPLE. "Ariah's a big girl, but I love the fatness. I love to show off her rolls and I dress her in rompers for summer. She has the chubbiest legs!"

Described by the former Sister Sister star as "sweet, precious and scrumptious," 6-week-old Ariah is dressed almost exclusively in pink clothing and tutus by her mama.

"I can't stop kissing her! And dressing her is so much fun," Mowry-Housley says. "With boys, you have to be more creative clothes-wise. There's just so much more to choose from when you have a girl."

Ariah's older brother Aden, 2, was ecstatic when he met his sister — though he has become suspicious of the new addition to the family as of late.

"The first three weeks were great, but now he realizes she's not going anywhere and he's jealous," the mom of two says. "As a mother, I am incorporating him as much as I can when I'm with her. I ask him to help with the diaper, the pacifier, to cuddle when I'm nursing. That makes him feel better."

A big advocate for breastfeeding after her son's birth in 2012, The Real co-host says this time around it's even more vital in developing a bond with her daughter.

"It's important more than ever now; women and moms are making a stand, making a point to breastfeed and there's nothing wrong with it," Mowry-Housley says. "Ariah's a great nurser. It's the perfect time to connect and at the same time, you know you are giving your child the best and it makes you feel great."

She adds, "It's perfect for when you travel, you don't have to carry formula around!"

Ariah recently gave her mother a smile for the first time, and the actress says it "melted [her] heart."

"Those first four weeks, it's like Groundhog Day — changing diapers and they lay there like a big blob. The moment you get that smile back though, it's just all worth it," she says. "It makes me feel good as a mom, it's been so great."

Mowry-Housley and her husband, Fox News senior correspondent Adam Housley, took the kids on their first family trip Friday to Carver, Massachusetts, where Aden and his parents attended the grand opening of Thomas Land, a family amusement park featuring rides and attractions based on the popular children's television series Thomas and Friends.

"Aden is obsessed with trains, so this was a no-brainer," Mowry-Housley says. "It's cool to come out as a family because we are family people. We run four deep now; when you have four, there's no doubt about it, you are a family."

{blackbabes} Tyra Banks Cast in black-ish Season 2

black-ish just got a little more fierce.

America's Next Top Model boss Tyra Banks will guest-star on the ABC comedy's upcoming Season 2, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Banks will play a version of herself as Dre's best friend, series creator Kenya Barris says, in a story based on his own longstanding, real-life friendship with the fashionista.

"I give my wife a lot of credit; I grew up with [Banks], but my wife came into a situation where my best friend from 4 years old is a supermodel," he adds, laughing. "She's a very good sport."

The comedy returns Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 9:30/8:30c. Look for Banks to make her black-ish debut around the middle of the season.
