{blackbabes} ‘One Day At A Time’ Casts Ed Quinn; ‘Heathers’ Adds Birgundi Baker & Cameron Gellman

Ed Quinn (2 Broke Girls) is set for a recurring role on Season 2 of One Day At A Time, Netflix's reimagining of Norman Lear's classic. The new version is about a Cuban-American family and centers on a recently separated, former military mom (Justina Machado) who is navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenage daughter and socially adept tween son. She's "helped" by her old school Cuban-born mom (Rita Moreno) and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider. Quinn will play an EMT who served with Penelope (Machado) in Kabul.  They run into each other at the hospital, and sparks fly. Eureka alum Quinn most recently recurred on 2 Broke Girls and Mistresses. He's repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder.

Birgundi Baker (Empire) and Cameron Gellman (20th Century Women) have signed on for recurring roles in Heathers, based on the 1988 cult classic film set for premiere on Paramount Network in 2018. Heathers is a pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, as our heroine Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox) deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers. Baker will portray Lizzy, a new kid from the foster care system eager to learn the ways from Heather Chandler. Gellman will play Kurt, a high school jock. Baker recently recurred as Teen Carol in Fox's Empire. Other recent credits include NBC's Chicago PD and she'll be seen in the upcoming Showtime series The Chi. She's repped by Gray Talent Group. Gellman's credits include the series regular role of Kyle in last season's TNT pilot Let The Right One In. He's repped by Smith & Hervey/Grimes Talent Agency & Elevate Entertainment.

{blackbabes} Halle Berry: Don’t complain unless you plan to change things

CANNES — Halle Berry has blasted those in Hollywood who complain about issues and the effectiveness of movements like Black Lives Matter, but then do nothing to create change.

The Oscar-winning actress said, "In my world, I get so tired of people complaining about, 'Oh black lives matter,' and they pontificate and pontificate about it, and I say, 'Well, what are you doing about that? It may not seem significant to you, but that's how we start. Have you called your local politicians, have you written a letter?'"

Appearing at the Cannes Lions Girls' Lounge in conversation with founder Shelley Zalis, Berry continued, "When they say they've done nothing, I say, 'Well, don't talk to me … because you are part of the problem, because you are sitting here spewing negativity and complaining.'"

She added, "I don't have time for people who talk the talk but don't walk the walk."

Berry has been taking meetings at Cannes Lions with top tech firms and marketers as she prepares to relaunch her website and social forum titled Hallewood.

The actress was spotted meeting with Snapchat executives Wednesday to discuss Hallewood, which launches next month, and on which she plans to post stories and videos, connect directly with her fans, and start a discussion on a wide variety of topics.

{blackbabes} Rhonda Ross performs in Orlando with mother Diana

http://www.trbimg.com/img-594bfae9/turbine/os-1498151651-f6hojob29m-snap-image/1050/1050x591

The title of Rhonda Ross' album "In Case You Didn't Know" has a double meaning. The name refers to a song on the 2016 record about the hidden miracles that surround people. But it also refers to the singer herself, "the best kept secret of the Ross family," she laughs.

Ross is the daughter of superstar Diana Ross and Motown founder Berry Gordy. This summer, the Los Angeles native is touring with her mother on a circuit that is bringing the two vocalists to Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center on Tuesday, June 27. (Tickets start at $49.50. Details: drphillipscenter.org.)

At 45, Rhonda Ross has flown largely under the radar. "People say, 'Wow, you've been a professional for a long time; I've never heard of you,'" she says. "But that's because I chose to go a different route than a lot of the record companies and producers would have liked in those early years.

"I decided to walk my own path and that's the path of a songwriter," she says.

Last year was the first time Ross toured with her mother. "I do 20 minutes ahead of her and it's my 20 minutes," she says. Traveling with Diana, the powerhouse singer behind "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "I'm Coming Out," Rhonda Ross says she has seen a different side of the woman who raised her. "I've been watching my mother from the wings all of my life, but it's got a different spin now that I'm in one dressing room and she's in the other. I have a whole new respect for what she does and how she's been doing it for over 50 years."

One of the things Rhonda Ross admires about her mom is the way she treats her band when they're on the road. "Her band and her crew is her family," says Rhonda Ross. "You really see that."

Diana Ross also taught her daughter how to take it slow. "She takes care of herself," Rhonda Ross says. "She makes sure she gets her rest."

"Sometimes," says Rhonda Ross, "as a busy, working mother and wife still building my career, I have a tendency to push myself all the way to the limit. So that was a good lesson."

Stories of family tension in celebrity households are fairly common, but Rhonda Ross says that isn't the case with her mother or siblings, which include actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Evan Ross. "One way in which we're atypical is that we really get along," says Rhonda, the eldest.

Born Rhonda Suzanne Silberstein, Ross says her mother always found time for her children. "She has really figured out a way to, in the midst of her stardom … to still give us good fundamentals and good values and a love for each other," she says.

Rhonda Ross, who starred on the soap opera "Another World" in the '90s, doesn't want to reach her mother's level of visibility. "There is a level of fame I don't want," she says. "I don't mind being recognized, but it would be a loss for me if I couldn't walk with the people."

{blackbabes} Psych Revival Enlists New Love Interest for Gus — and There's a (Fun!) Twist

Psych the Movie Cast

USA Network's forthcoming Psych revival is turning into quite the family affair.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Ballers actress Jazmyn Simon — aka the real-life fiancée of Psych leading man Dulé Hill — is joining the two-hour reunion movie as a romantic interest for Hill's lovelorn Gus.

As previously reported, the holiday-themed Psych: The Movie (premiering in December) finds original cast members James Roday, the aforementioned Dule Hill, Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson, Corbin Bernsen and Kirsten Nelson reuniting "during the holidays after a mystery assailant targets one of their own." We're guessing the mystery assailant is Chuck's Zachary Levi, who was recently tapped to play the main villain.

Psych creator Steve Franks co-wrote the script (with Roday) and will also direct.

{blackbabes} ‘Minor issue’ keeps Beyoncé’s twins in hospital: report

Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed their twins to their world six days ago, but a "minor issue" is preventing them from bringing them home from the hospital, TMZ reports.

The twins — a boy and girl — were born June 12 at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, where they will stay with their famous mother until docs give the thumbs-up.

The trio is reportedly recovering at the hospital, but sources tell TMZ there's not much to worry about and mother and babies are expected to be fine.

Beyonce's father was the first in the family to publicly acknowledge the birth.

He feted his new grandkids Sunday by posting a balloon-filled e-card to social media.

"They're here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday," Mathew Knowles posted on his Twitter account alongside the card.

The superstar singers have another daughter, 5-year-old Blue Ivy.

{blackbabes} Beyonce Gives Birth to Twins

Beyonce and Jay Z have reportedly welcomed their twins into the world.

There have been rumblings all week Beyonce gave birth in a Los Angeles hospital.  There were signs she might have given birth to a boy and a girl based on balloons that were delivered to a hospital, but no hard evidence so far.

President Obama intimated a few days ago the twins might be girls, but again ... nothing concrete.

The evidence seems to be mounting ... 5-year-old Blue Ivy could earn some serious babysitting cash.

{blackbabes} Zoë Kravitz on Nicole Kidman being engaged to Lenny Kravitz

Zoë Kravitz has adored Nicole Kidman ever since the Australian Oscar winner was engaged to Lenny.

Kidman, now 49, told The Edit in February that she knew her "Big Little Lies" co-star Zoë "because I was engaged to her father! It's all in the family."

It was the first time Kidman admitted she'd been in a relationship with Lenny, now 53, but neither he nor Zoë were bothered by the reveal.

"I think she forgot that no one knew that," Zoë told The Edit in an interview released Thursday. "I hadn't seen her in a long time before 'Big Little Lies,' but there was a point where we were all kind of living together. I was about 13, and she would take me to see movies; she was so nice to me."

Zoë also admitted that being the daughter of rocker Lenny and "Cosby Show" star Lisa Bonet wasn't always a picnic.

"When your mom and dad are both so cool, but you're not … I think maybe that's where I get this idea that I'm really not cool — that has stuck with me forever."

{blackbabes} Jada Pinkett Smith ‘deeply hurt’ by her portrayal in Tupac biopic

Jada Pinkett Smith is upset about the way her relationship with close friend Tupac Shakur has been portrayed in the new biopic on the late rapper, "All Eyez On Me."

"Forgive me… my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in 'All Eyez On Me' to stand as truth," she wrote in a series of tweets on Friday.

The actress said that Tupac never actually read her the poem he penned about her in "The Rose That Grew From Concrete." She claims she didn't even know about it until the book was published.

She clears up other claims of falsehoods in the feature film, including: "Pac never said goodbye to me before leaving for LA. He had to leave abruptly and it wasn't to pursue his career … I've never been to any of Pac's shows by his request. We never had an argument backstage."

Smith continued, "The reimagining of my relationship to Pac has been deeply hurtful."

She made sure not to place any of the blame on Kat Graham, who plays her in the movie, and Demetrius Shipp Jr., who plays Tupac.

"This is no fault of yours," she wrote. "Thank you for bringing so much heart and spirit to your roles. You both did a beautiful job with what you were given. Thank you both."

In 2015, Smith opened up about her platonic relationship with Tupac, who was shot and killed in Las Vegas in 1996.

She told Howard Stern, "If Pac and I had any kind of sexual chemistry, we might have killed each other because we were both so passionate. And you know, we loved deeply. It was hard enough with us just being friends. It was a volatile relationship."

Reps for the film didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

"All Eyez On Me" hit theaters on Friday.

{blackbabes} Tessa Thompson, Lakeith Stanfield, Steven Yeun To Star In ‘Sorry To Bother You’

Tessa Thompson Lakeith Stanfield Steven Yeun

Tessa Thompson, Lakeith Stanfield, Steven Yeun will star in first-time director Boots Riley's drama Sorry to Bother You. The project is slated to go before the cameras this month in Oakland, CA where the critically acclaimed Fruitvale Station was filmed. Not surprisingly, Fruitvale Station's Nina Yang Bongiovi and Forest Whitaker of Signficant Prods. are producing along with 6 Years' Jonathan Duffy and Kelly Williams, Charles D. King (Fences), George Rush (Bully).

Significant Productions (Dope), MNM Creative, MACRO and Cinereach are financing the film about "a black telemarketer with self-esteem issues" who "discovers a magical key to business success, propelling him to the upper echelons of the hierarchy just as his activist comrades are rising up against unjust labor practices. When he uncovers the macabre secret of his corporate overlords, he must decide whether to stand up or sell out."

The executive producers of Sorry to Bother You are Kim Roth (Inside Man), Poppy Hanks (Fences), Michael Y. Chow (Fruitvale Station, Dope), Michael K. Shen (Dope) and Gus Deardoff (Dara Ju).

MNM Creative is a multi-national film and content fund managed by Michael Y. Chow and Michael K. Shen. Launched in 2015, MACRO is a media asset holding company founded by Charles D. King and is focused on premium content creation, distribution and engagement for African American, Latino and multicultural (ALM) audiences. They were the company behind the multi-nominated Oscar film Fences (based on the play by August Wilson) which garnered a win for Viola Davis as Best Supporting Actress. They are also the company behind Mudbound, directed by Dee Rees, which bowed at Sundance this year to high acclaim.

A little bit about the new director on the scene. Riley studied film at San Francisco State University before ending his studies in favor of a major label recording deal for his band, The Coup. He directed a music video for The Coup's Me And Jesus The Pimp In A '79 Granada Last Night upon which the novel Too Beautiful For Words was based.

Thompson and Stanfield previously both worked on the critically-acclaimed and Oscar nominated Best Picture Selma together. Thompson, who also appeared in Creed, stars as the female lead Valkyrie in Disney/Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok which bows on Nov. 3. Upcoming also for her is a starring turn in Alex Garland's sci-fi thriller Annihilation opposite Natalie Portman. And, this summer she will begin production on season 2 of HBO's Westworld.

Stanfield will next star in The Incredible Jessica James (Netflix), Crown Heights (Amazon), Death Note (Netflix), Come Sunday (Netflix) opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor as well as season 2 of FX's Atlanta.

WME Global is repping worldwide rights.

Thompson is repped by Greene & Associates Talent Agency, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein. Stanfield is repped by CAA, Stark Management and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

Yeun (The Walking Dead) is repped by Principal Entertainment LA, The Gotham Group and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush & Kaller.

{blackbabes} Aisha Tyler Leaving CBS' The Talk

Aisha Tyler is all Talk-ed out.

The actress, now a series regular on Criminal Minds, announced Thursday that she'll be vacating her seat on the CBS daytime talk show after six seasons on the air.

"Coming here is such a joy that it never feels like work to me," she told the studio audience. "But recently, I got this opportunity to do something I've always dreamed of doing, which is to direct my first feature film. … It was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved directing. I loved being there every day. … I know, I think, that that was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, that that was what I wanted to put my energy into, and I started to think about it."

Tyler explained that The Talk shoots 11 months out of the year, and when you factor in her other shows — in addition to Criminal Minds, Tyler hosts Whose Line Is It Anyway? and voices a character on Archer — it doesn't leave much time to pursue directing.

"This industry is really starting to give women bigger opportunities to direct," she continued, beginning to cry. "I'm sorry, I just realized I had to let something go. It's been the hardest decision of my life because you guys are my family, you know that. I love being with you every day. … I think what you guys at home and in the audience don't see is that the reason this show works out here is because it works so beautifully when we're not on stage. Our friendships are so precious to me, and the thing I'm going to miss most is all the time we get to spend together when we're not on camera. But at the end of this season, i'm going to leaving the show."

Tyler joined Criminal Minds in a recurring capacity for Season 11 (filling the vacancy left by Jennifer Love Hewitt's one-and-done run), and this past season was promoted to series regular status (at the onset of a major cast upheaval triggered by Thomas Gibson's firing).

Previous co-hosts who have left the show include Marissa Jaret Winokur (Season 1 only), Leah Remini (Seasons 1–2) and Holly Robinson Peete (also Seasons 1–2).

{blackbabes} Quantico: Another Series Regular Leaving Ahead of Season 3

Quantico Season 3 Cast

The winds of change continue to whip through Quantico.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Pearl Thusi — who joined the ABC drama last fall as a series regular — will not be returning for Season 3. Thusi's exit comes on the heels of news that original cast member Yasmine Al Massri has also exited the series.

A source tells me that both departures are part of a creative overhaul currently underway at Quantico, which is in the midst of a leadership change; series creator Joshua Safran has stepped down as showrunner and a replacement is expected to be announced soon.

Thusi's character — driven, disciplined, type-A lawyer Dayana Mampasi — was introduced at the start of Season 2.

The South African actress' most notable stateside role prior to Quantico was a guest stint on HBO's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

{blackbabes} Tamron Hall wants to see more women in media

Former anchor of NBC's "Today" Tamron Hall says she's ready to end "male dominance" in the media.

At Soledad O'Brien's PowHERful Foundation event, Hall told Page Six, "This is important for me because, in the end, all of these industries are dominated by men, and if we cannot support each other as women, who will?"

She added, "It is always important for me to help another woman, another sister."

Hall left NBC in February after her show "Today's Take" was canceled to make way for Megyn Kelly.

{blackbabes} Battle of the Network Stars Full Cast Announced

battle of the network stars taye diggs john barrowman cast

This is either going to be really good or so bad, it's great. But either way, ABC's relaunch of Battle of the Network Stars (premiering Thursday, June 29 at 9/8c) is looking like the summer's must-see — especially since on Tuesday the full list of competitors was released. The celebrities we're most psyched to see throwing down in events like the kayak relay race and dunk tank:

Lou Ferrigno: Don't we all want to believe that, even at age 65, the Incredible Hulk is invincible?

John Barrowman: Whether the contest includes a battle of wit (get it?), the Arrow baddie is sure to toss off a zinger or 10.

Vivica A. Fox: Like a measly archery challenge could intimidate a casualty of Sharknado 2.

Adrian Zmed: OK, so the T.J. Hooker cop is on our list mainly because of our (very) faint hope that at some point he'll bust out in "Prowlin'" from Grease 2.

Parker Stevenson: Sorry, Shaun Cassidy. Frank was always our favorite Hardy Boy.

Lisa Whelchel: After Survivor, this oughta be a piece of cake for The Facts of Life's Blair.

Taye Diggs: Because where there's a dunk tank, there's a good chance Taye Diggs will get wet.

Charisma Carpenter: Having her compete in a tug-of-war against Julie Benz may be the closest we ever again come to seeing Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel's Cordelia and Darla face off.

Jill Wagner: The former Wipeout co-host is sure to scoff at Battle's comparatively simple obstacle course.

Jackée Harry: She'll win the sassy smack-talk challenge for her team even if there isn't one.

Here's the full list of stars competing on the 20 teams that will, in different episodes, do their damnedest to avoid "the agony of defeat":

TV Sitcoms (Bronson Pinchot, Tom Arnold, Dave Coulier, AJ Michalka, Tracey Gold) vs. TV Kids (Joey Lawrence, Corbin Bleu, Nolan Gould, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields)

Primetime Soaps (Ian Ziering, Josh Henderson, Gabrielle Carteris, Donna Mills, Mischa Barton) vs. ABC Stars (Olivia d'Abo, Shari Belafonte, Michael Fishman, Jason Hervey, Anson Williams)

Variety (Joanna Krupa, Nick Lachey, Vanessa Lachey, Gilles Marini, Jack Osbourne) vs. TV Sex Symbols (Keegan Allen, Traci Bingham, Rosa Blasi, Brant Daugherty, Galen Gering)

Cops (Erik Estrada, Larry Wilcox, Kelly Hu, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Lorenzo Lamas) vs. TV Sitcoms (Todd Bridges, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Dave Foley, Willie Garson, Jenna von Oy)

White House (Cornelius Smith Jr., Marlee Matlin, Joshua Malina, LaMonica Garrett, Mary McCormack) vs. Lawyers (Elisabeth Rohm, Corbin Bernsen, Matt McGorry, Romi Dias, Catherine Bell)

TV Moms & Dads (Chad Lowe, Greg Evigan, Ted McGinley, Lesley Fera, Jackee Harry) vs. TV Kids (Jimmie Walker, Mackenzie Phillips, Jonathan Lipnicki, Krista Marie Yu, Jeremy Miller)

Famous TV Families (Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams, Beverley Mitchell, Willie Aames, Charlene Tilton) vs. Doctors (Thomas Calabro, Taye Diggs, Rachelle Lefevre, Deidre Hall, Benjamin Hollingsworth)

Troublemakers (Vivica A. Fox, Paul Johansson, John Barrowman, Julie Benz, Catherine Bach) vs. TV Lifeguards (David Chokachi, Brande Roderick, Parker Stevenson, Nicole Eggert, Gena Lee Nolin)

ABC Stars (Ted Lange, Troy Gentile, Jill Whelan, Denise Richards, Joely Fisher) vs. Variety (Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Adrienne Houghton, Cameron Mathison, Kelly Osbourne)

Cops (Marisol Nichols, Roma Maffia, Adrian Zmed, Fred Dryer, Ryan Paevey) vs. Sci-Fi/Fantasy (Lou Ferrigno, Vinnie Jones, Charisma Carpenter, Kevin Sorbo, Jill Wagner)
