{blackbabes} Recovery Road: Kyla Pratt Breaks Down Trish's Devastating Twist

Kyla Pratt, Recovery Road Kyla Pratt, Recovery Road

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for Monday's episode of Recovery Road. Read at your own risk!]

Recovery Road has purposefully balanced its dark episodes with lighter fare to give a multifaceted look at the life of addicts. Monday's episode went very dark though as it became obvious that Trish's (Kyla Pratt) baby daughter was actually a figment of the former meth addict's imagination.

"It could be an underlying mental health condition, but I really took it as methamphetamine psychosis which can be brought by using meth," Pratt says, explaining Trish's delusions to TVGuide.com.

Now that the truth is out it will take some time to figure out the best course of action to get Trish the help she really needs. "Trish does have to go get help somewhere else because Craig and his therapist can't help with this diagnosis or diagnose something like this. She does go get help elsewhere," Pratt says. "Having her in and out and seeing where she goes is how we sum up the season. You'll just have to wait a couple more episodes for that."

The first part of Trish's healing will have to be getting her to understand that Nevaeh isn't actually there, which will be easier said than done since others have tried to tell her the truth before. Accepting the reality will be a jarring experience for the bubbliest roommate in the house, and will put her back in risk of relapsing. "People have tried to tell her that her daughter isn't real, she just doesn't believe it. She lets people know, 'No matter what, you're going to meet her and you're going to believe me,'" Pratt says. "It's going be a conscious struggle for Trish. I don't know if she's going to be able to cope without using again."

The storyline allows Recovery Road to dig into the multitude of issues that face addicts even after they survive detox and find their way into sober living. It's not as simple as avoiding drugs and alcohol, but there are severe side effects to using these substances.

"When I found out, I had no idea that this is where they were going to take it. It's an amazing twist. It allows the show to recognize other things that happen where drug use is concerned," Pratt says. The show is also hoping to prove that addiction, and all of its ugly facets, can happen to anyone no matter what they look like or where they come from. "We have different races, different genders, different sexualities all in one house showing that addiction isn't just for 'one type' of person. It can happen to anybody. This storyline is something else that can happen that I didn't really know that could happen. I love the fact that we're talking about it," Pratt adds.

Recovery Road continues Mondays at 9/8c on Freeform.

{blackbabes} ‘Conviction’: Merrin Dungey Cast In ABC Legal Drama Pilot

Merrin Dungey 1

Merrin Dungey (Big Little Lies) has been cast opposite Hayley Atwell in ABC's legal drama pilot Conviction, from The Mark Gordon Co. and ABC Studios.

Co-created by Liz Friedman, who wrote the script, and Liz Friedlander, who will direct the pilot, Conviction stars Atwell as the brilliant but ne'er-do-well daughter of a former President who is blackmailed into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles' newly created Conviction Integrity Unit. She, along with her team of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts, work together to examine cases where there's credible suspicion that the wrong person may have been convicted of a crime.

Dungey will play Maxine, the lead investigator for the Conviction Integrity Unit. Maxine is a former NYPD detective from a cop family. She is tough and no-nonsense, but will find her previously unfailing loyalty to the badge tested as she delves into her former colleagues' cases. She joins recently announced cast members Shawn Ashmore, Emily Kinney and Manny Montana.

Dungey can be currently seen in HBO's Big Little Lies. Other credits include Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Alias and features Deep Impact and EdTV among others. She is repped by Gersh, Industry Entertainment and attorney Marcy Morris.

{blackbabes} Big stars fawn over top athletes during Oscars weekend

Roger Federer

With Hollywood stars everywhere in LA over Oscar weekend, who do the A-listers get star-struck by? Athletes.

The biggest sources of fascination on the party circuit weren't in the movies — as Carolina Panthers' quarterback Cam Newton, Roger Federer and Serena Williams were all in town for the awards.

"Everyone wants to talk to Cam Newton," said one exec who'd spotted him at WME's starry pre-Oscars party Saturday night in a room that included Leo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Sylvester Stallone and Charlize Theron.

"In Hollywood, all they want to do is meet the athletes," the power player said.

WME moved its party this year to a Beverly Hills estate once owned by Paul McCartney, and DJ Kaskade spun tunes as Williams boogied all night.

Nearby, DiCaprio chatted with Dasha Zhukova, and Affleck looked Bruce Wayne-like in a jacket and vest hanging with brother Casey and Matt Damon.

Big-budget directors David Fincher and Michael Bay huddled nearby as WME's Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell presided over the fête with guests including Idris Elba, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Wiz Khalifa, Tim Allen, Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe and Larry David.

At Harvey Weinstein's pre-Oscars dinner at the Montage Beverly Hills, where guests included Rooney Mara and a late-arriving Lady Gaga, Federer could hardly swallow a slice of his steak with all the insiders coming up for selfies as he sat with Weinstein and Georgina Chapman.

Weinstein planned to bring the dashing Swiss tennis champ to the awards as a guest.

CAA took a cue from Vanity Fair's Oscars extravaganza and had staggered arrival times for some guests. VIPs included Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Lawrence, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Bradley Cooper, Morgan Freeman, and Eddie Redmayne.

UTA's party was at the home of chairman Jim Berkus for guests including Brett Ratner, Judd Apatow, Jennifer Lopez, Jerry Bruckheimer, and ICM had a smaller affair for its nominees.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams Makes Sports Bras High-Style in Latest Photoshoot

If anyone knows what makes a good sports bra, it's the top tennis player in the world, Serena Williams. And if anyone could be the perfect sports bra model, it's the top tennis player in the world who has also covered Vogue — twice. Williams is the brand ambassador for Berlei's sport line and just revealed a, well, revealing behind-the-scenes pic modeling their latest collection.

Serena Williams

She's worn the brand for 10 years, ever since her mother introduced her to the Australian line. "I've been wearing them ever since — for every tennis match without fail," she tells the brand. "I'm a big-busted athlete so I know how important a good bra is." (Which is exactly why Berlei tapped her to test their "Master of Bounce" in last year's campaign.)

Judging by her sneak peek Instagram, this year's line ramped up the sex appeal, with Williams modeling a cleavage-baring two-tone design and skin-tight midi skirt.

In addition to undergarments, the athlete has a very well-versed fashion résumé thanks to her Signature Statement HSN Collection. When she debuted the fall line last September during New York Fashion Week she told PeopleStyle her line is all about supporting every type of woman. "My mantra is strong is beautiful. You can be strong, powerful, and beautiful at the same time. That means you can be powerful at your job, and you can still be beautiful. You can be amazing and you can just be you can be who you are and love you."

What do you think of her new photoshoot?

Upon discovering his father's legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption beyond imagination. The pilot, from Sony TV, is produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson and directed by Anthony Hemingway. Mitchenor, repped by Luber Roklin Entertainment, MMV, and Bloom Hergott, will play Eva Adams. {blackbabes} Beyoncé Goes Blue For Garage Magazine Cover

50 shades of Bey!

Beyoncé debuted a new look, and a couple of options, for her photo shoot with Garage Magazine.

On the cover, Queen Bey is surrounded in hues of blue as she looks over her shoulder, staring seductively into the lens, wearing her blonde locks in cornrows, and a fresh face, featuring minimal makeup. The "Formation" singer also flaunts some new piercings — although it's not clear if they're real — as a line of hoops go up her ear.

In other variations of the cover shot, the mother of one, 34, is seen with a frame of orange, red, and yellow, circling her face.

The cover art is collaboration between the superstar singer, and world-renowned artist Urs Fischer, and offers a sneak peek into what the magazine describes as an "interactive feature [that] will include exclusive words and images from Beyoncé herself."

The March issue is currently available for pre-sale, but won't hit news stands until March 14.

{blackbabes} Elton John Tells Janet Jackson to ''F--k Off'' and Claims She Lip-Syncs: ''I'd Rather Go and See a Drag Queen'

Janet Jackson, Elton John
Janet Jackson, Elton John

The bitch is back, all right.

Elton John is one of the most outspoken musicians alive, and in a new Rolling Stone interview, he takes aim at one of the most popular female solo artists of all time. Because he prides himself on giving his all onstage, John is sensitive to others he feels do not hold themselves to the same standards. "You know, f--king music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, 'This is the greatest show—four and a half stars.' It's f--king lip-synced! Hello! That's not a show!" John, 68, says. "I'd rather go and see a drag queen. F--k off."

Jackson, who is currently on a world tour in support of her eleventh studio album, Unbreakable, has not yet responded to John's allegations; E! News has reached out to the 49-year-old "No Sleeep" singer's rep for comment.

More than a decade ago, John made similar lip-syncing claims about Madonna. "I say what I feel," he tells Rolling Stone in hindsight. "I probably went too far with Madonna, and I got very personal and I wrote her—she was very gracious."

Who could forget their 11-year feud? John first dissed the Material Girl in 2002 when he said that "Die Another Day" was the "worst" James Bond song he'd ever heard. Two years later, he called her out onstage at the Q Awards. "Madonna, best live act? F--k off," he told the audience. "Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That's me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.

The "Tiny Dancer" singer trashed Madonna again ahead of her Super Bowl Halftime performance in 2012. Asked if he had any advice for Queen of Pop, he replied, "Make sure you lip-sync good." Later that year, during an appearance on Australia's Sunday Night, John took his insults a step further. "Her tour is a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c--t. If Madonna had any common sense, she would have made a record like Ray of Light, stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and made great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to prove that she was like..." he said, not finishing his sentence. "And she looks like a f--king fairground stripper."

John decided to bury the hatchet with Madonna after they unexpectedly crossed paths in 2012. "We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime. She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious. I apologized profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public. She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner. That's over and done with," he told Extra the following year. "She was fantastic. She was just like, 'OK, let's get a move on.'"

Hopefully Jackson will be as forgiving.

{blackbabes} Bill Cosby Drops Defamation Suit Against Supermodel Beverly Johnson

Bill Cosby's attorneys are asking a judge to dismiss a defamation lawsuit the comic filed against model Beverly Johnson in December, citing their client's need to devote his full attention to his pending criminal case, TMZ reports.

Cosby filed the suit against Johnson in December, saying that Johnson's accusations that he drugged and attempted to rape her back in the '80s are false and defamatory. His attorneys plan to refile the case after the criminal case is decided.

He is currently tied up in litigation with a group of seven women where both parties are suing the other for defamation, as well as his pending criminal case on aggravated indecent assault charges.

Johnson is one of more than 50 women to accuse Cosby of sexual assault. She has publicly forgiven Cosby for his alleged actions.

{blackbabes} Jessica Chastain, Juliette Binoche, Freida Pinto, Queen Latifah & More Launch Production Company To Help Female Empowerment In TV And Film

A new, nonprofit organization created to finance and produce films, documentaries, TV and other forms of media dedicated to the empowerment of women has been launched with a mission to create content that will change perceptions of female stereotypes. On the advisory board of the company, named We Do It Together, are Jessica Chastain, Juliette Binoche, Freida Pinto, Queen Latifah, Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke and actress Ziyi Zhang, to name a few.

The move comes after the revelation last fall that the The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was interviewing dozens of female directors about the discrimination they face in both film and television. Women currently receive only 16% of the episodic TV directing jobs, and last year directed less than 5% of the major studio movie releases.

We Do It Together looks to change this. They say they will raise capital from grants, governments, corporate sponsors, and individual donations to invest in the production of films, proceeds from which will be reinvested in the company to create a self-sustaining organization prepared to invest in additional films. The first film through this new company will be announced at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

The board also consists of such creative talent as male director Hany Abu-Assad; A United Kingdom director Amma Asante; The Diary Of A Teenage Girl director, writer and actress Marielle Heller; City Of God director Katia Lund; Elles director Małgorzata Szumowska; actress, producer and writer Alysia Reiner; Henry Louis Gates; and Wadjda director Haifaa Al Mansour.

The board will be responsible for collaborating on the slate of films they will produce. They also plan to start local chapters to make regional impacts.

The organization's launch comes as the company readies itself for its first public speaker platform, with We Do It Together scheduled to participate at the United Nations' 3rd Annual Power of Collaboration Global Summit on February 29th. Speaking to the topic of "A Glimpse to Next Stop: Conversations With Men (And Women) in Hollywood," board member and founder Chiara Tilesi will be presenting the new international non-profit production company model and discussing the organization's mission of challenging the status quo, producing movies by women and about women, while changing deep-seated perceptions about female stereotypes.

Sitting on the board of directors of We Do It Together are producer Albert Berger; DDA Partner Dana Archer; The Gersh Agency's Sandra Lucchesi; Mosaic manager Paul Nelson; Producer-Director Carol Polakoff; Primetime Emmy-winning producer Shelby Stone; producer and philanthropist Tilesi; and Septembers of Shiraz writer and producer Hanna Weg.

{blackbabes} BRIT Awards - Rihanna

{blackbabes} The real reason Rihanna pulled out of Grammys performance

Rihanna canceled her Grammys performance due to "bronchitis," but sources exclusively tell Page Six it was just a ploy to get her out of the awards show at the eleventh hour, because she feared giving a lackluster performance.

"She felt like her performance couldn't compare [to some of the other artists'], and she was trying to avoid the embarrassment because she knew it wasn't the right comeback performance," said an insider. "She said, 'I'm not doing this.'"

Sources said RiRi rehearsed her tune "Kiss It Better" twice, but then got cold feet after seeing Kendrick Lamar and others rehearse.

Another source who saw the pop star's rehearsals told us, "It was underwhelming. The performance was like a throwback to an '80s talk show. James Corden was going to introduce her, and she was supposed to walk over, talk to him, then gyrate on the mike."

Our source continued: "People were watching like, 'Oh, is that it?' She was singing parts of the song live, but it had a lot of recorded vocals [in rehearsal]. We were surprised when she rehearsed the ballad [all the way through], because we thought she was going to kill it and come back with [her more upbeat single] 'Work.' It didn't seem like Rihanna."

Producers then powwowed with her team. "It was an intense conversation. It didn't seem like they were discussing a doctor's note," we're told.

But another source said the singer "looked upset after rehearsals and a doctor came to see her . . . after the doctor talked to her and told her the diagnosis, she was forced to pull out."

On nights before the Grammys, Rihanna performed in a Lionel Richie tribute and partied at Up&Down in New York with Naomi Campbell for RiRi's Fenty x Puma fashion show. The "Anti" hitmaker also seems to have had a speedy recovery after the awards — she was back at Up&Down celebrating her 28th birthday days later.

And on Monday, she released two videos for "Work," then reportedly partied in London till 5 a.m. with Drake. The duo's expected to perform the song at the Brit Awards on Wednesday.

{blackbabes} Santigold goes for broke on new album '99 Cents'

Santigold isn't the kind of artist who easily fits in a box — or a plastic bag, for that matter.

On the cover of her third album, 99 Cents (out Friday), the genre-bending pop singer imagines herself as dollar-store knickknack: stone-faced and shrink-wrapped with a colorful assortment of odds and ends. The stark imagery plays into the larger themes of her new music, which satirizes commercialism, consumption and people's incessant need to market themselves online.

"The era that we're living in is absurd in so many ways: the selfies, Instagrams and people who are so much about capturing these moments, rather than experiencing them," says Santi White, 39, who goes by stage name Santigold. "I decided to take that absurdity and make fun of it."

After touring in support of her 2012 album Master of My Make-Believe, Santigold decided to take some time off from music, during which she dabbled in acting (The Office, Adult Swim), launched a makeup collection (with Smashbox Cosmetics), and gave birth to a son, Radek, in spring 2014 (with her husband, snowboarder Trevor Andrew). Two months later, she was back in the studio.

"I went in there and was like, 'I'm going to have a fun time,' " Santigold says. After "I had a baby, I had this ball of joy at home that was like the most beautiful, pure energy. It ended up being this brighter, playful record, partly because I willed it to be and partly because that was the influence I had in my life at the moment."

Santigold approached 99 Cents with the desire to create big pop songs that draw from eclectic influences, including African music, reggae and punk rock. Working for the first time with artists and producers such as ILoveMakonnen, Hit-Boy and Vampire Weekend's Rostam Batmanglij, she says the album is her freest and most well-rounded yet, mixing droll and danceable songs with darker, heavier tracks.

Chasing Shadows, a plinky piano anthem, is about ambition and the inability to live in the moment "because you're always trying to put on this facade and look for what's next." Meanwhile, crackling synth ballad Run the Races describes the choice to "play the game and talk the language in order for people to hear you sometimes. That was a conscious decision for me, because it's not natural for me to put myself on display all the time and act like everything's perfect."

Although Santigold is active on Twitter and Instagram, she mostly uses them to share new music or retweet fans — not exactly the #SquadGoals group shots or aw-worthy #ThrowbackThursdays we've come to expect from Top 40s reigning queens.

For a while, "I tried to pretend that (social media) wasn't important, but for a musician, you need to do it," Santigold says. "It's one of the main ways of marketing your work, but it's under this weird guise of being natural and real, and it's totally not. ... When I'm at home being a mom, barely sleeping and not having time to shower, it's really hard for me to keep putting up these Instagrams for everybody to see and pretend I'm doing so much fun stuff."

After this week's release, Santigold will take 99 Cents out on a nearly two-month North American tour, kicking off in Houston March 21. In addition to TV appearances and album promotion, "I have a lot of art to finish, which is fun for me," she says. "I've got a lot of things I'm trying to do, but I'm just trying to stay afloat, really. It's a lot."

Bianca Lawson Greg Vaughan

Bianca Lawson (Pretty Little Liars), Greg Vaughan (Days of Our Lives) and Henry G. Sanders (Selma) have joined the cast of OWN's new original drama series Queen Sugar, from Ava Duvernay and Warner Horizon Television.

Meanwhile, OWN said today that Oprah Winfrey — who earlier was announced as a recurring — will not have an onscreen role but will remain actively involved as an executive producer.

Henry G. Sanders
by Duvernay, the contemporary series is adapted from the first novel by Natalie Baszile. It chronicles the lives and loves of the estranged Bordelon siblings – Nova (Rutina Wesley), Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) – who come together after a family tragedy to run an ailing sugar cane farm in the Deep South. The series will begin production this month in Louisiana and Los Angeles.

Lawson plays Darla, the ex-girlfriend of Ralph Angel and mother of their 6-year-old son Blue, whom she has been prevented from seeing as she battles drug addiction. Vaughan is Calvin, a cop and longtime lover of Nova, who shares a deep connection with her despite being married. Sanders, in a recurring role, plays Prosper Denton, a farmer and old friend of Ernest (guest star Glynn Turman).

The series is executive produced by Winfrey, DuVernay and Melissa Carter. DuVernay developed Queen Sugar for television, wrote its pilot episode and will direct multiple episodes of the show's first season.

{blackbabes} Naomi Campbell Shares What It's Really Like to Work for Kanye West

Kanye West may have his critics, but Naomi Campbell isn't one of them. The supermodel gushed about West after starring in his recent fashion show, telling PeopleStyle he's "great to work for."

"It was a great experience, and I had a lot of fun" Campbell shared at the Burberry fashion show in London's Kensington Gardens on Monday, adding: "I've never done a fashion show where I'm sitting there in a concert hall!"

The supermodel was the big star of the West's highly anticipated Yeezy Season 3 fashion show during New York Fashion Week, in which the rapper-turned-designer showcased both his new album The Life of Pablo and his latest Yeezy collection to a celeb-packed audience.

And Campbell didn't hesitate taking the gig.

"When they asked me I said, 'Okay, I've been to Madison Square Gardens to see lots of concerts, but I've never actually worked at Madison Square Garden, and that's a different thing! I said, 'Yes, I want to do it, I want to be part of this experience!'"

With a list of instructions, West was very specific as to how his models should behave (no smiling, no looking into the camera, they basically stood stationary for approximately one hour). "He knows exactly what he wants, what he's saying, what he does, everything!" said the 45-year-old British model.

Wearing a floor-length fur coat, Campbell appeared briefly on the stage and joining fellow model vets Alek Wek and Veronica Webb. But making it to the stage had been somewhat of a scramble. "I was in my dressing room and then suddenly it was like 'He wants you now,' so I had to be ready in a second, but it was fun!"
