Venus Williams took some time off from the tennis court to enjoy some artisanal mini doughnuts from Doughnuttery in the Plaza Food Hall at the Plaza Hotel Wednesday night, an eyewitness told Page Six.
Williams was accompanied by a male friend, who seemed to be helping her with her holiday shopping, as he carried her enormous MCM shopping bag that contained a new purse. At the Doughnuttery counter, Williams pulled money out of her Chanel purse to buy six mini glazed doughnuts for her and her pal.
"One of the employees thought it was Serena Williams instead of Venus and shouted 'Serena!' as she walked away," the spy told us. "Everyone quickly corrected him and laughed about it."
The tennis pro's pal was not her new man, Nicholas Hammond. As Page Six previously exclusively reported, Williams was spotted dining out with her new love interest, Hammond, last week at the East Pole restaurant in the Upper East Side.
