Angela Bassett wants "American Horror Story" fans to know some important things about the upcoming "Hotel" season — first and foremost that meeting Lady Gaga made her nervous, but was totally cool.
Bassett's character Ramona Royale and Gaga's The Countess have some intense romance scenes coming up. After finding out that their characters would be hooking up, Gaga decided to break the ice by buying Bassett a one of a kind birthday cake.
"First time I met her, she had a party for the cast and crew and that was a first meeting. She was in this beautiful gown that was sort of see-though and vintage and a diamond necklace, and I'm just trying to be cool," Bassett tells Access Hollywood. "She said, 'Are you nervous? I hear you are nervous.' I said, 'Yes.' She said, 'Don't be nervous. I know about these things. I have been there.' I was like, 'OK!'"
However, Bassett was not ready for the birthday surprise ahead of her.
"Then she brought me out a birthday cake,and what she was doing to me on this cake… [it was] an X-rated cake!" Bassett teases. She then followed up with Gaga, "Would that be foreplay?"
The jokes have only continued onto set. Bassett also dishes on one of the couple's romantic bedroom scenes.
"[They] said cut and I jumped and she said, 'That's the fastest anyone has jumped out of the bed with me.'"
As much as the foreplay and sexual chemistry is an adjustment for Bassett, she says that Gaga has been nothing but a supportive scene partner.
"She's the nicest person. She is warm and gracious and funny. She makes everybody feel comfortable and she's comfortable with herself. So, no one is tripping except for me," she says, adding, "She's a good kisser!"
"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 on FX.
