WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The biennial National Black Theatre Festival, scheduled for Aug. 3-8 on stages throughout Winston-Salem, will be co-chaired by actors Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan, festival officials announced Monday.

Williams and Morgan, who have extensive careers in theater, film and television, are best known as Jesse and Angie Hubbard on the ABC daytime drama "All My Children."

The Winston-Salem event is the only national black theater festival in the U.S. that offers six consecutive days of professional theater, film, poetry, workshops, seminars and shopping.

"This year's co-chairs are two ground-breaking actors immediately recognized for their extensive work in theater, film and television," said Sylvia Hamlin, the president of the board of directors of the N.C. Black Repertory Company and executive producer of the theater festival. "Their iconic roles cemented them in television history. Their participation promises to attract a broad-based audience."
