Home Alone / The March Sisters At Christmas
Keke Palmer went for the part of Cinderella on Broadway even though she said the role "is primarily for a Caucasian girl."
"I know that the role of Cinderella is primarily for a Caucasian girl, but it didn't stop me from going in and it didn't stop them from seeing me," Palmer, who joined the cast of "Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" this fall, said in the January issue of Essence.
The 21-year-old is the first black actress to take on the iconic role on the Great White Way.
"There is a bit of intimidation. You think about Denzel, Viola Davis, and you think, 'Only great people can do Broadway.' That was the scariest thing about it, but I'm the type who thrives on pressure," she said.
Even though her career has been heating up, the host of BET's "Just Keke" is also recovering from a recent breakup and the nude photo hack earlier this year.
Of her recent split, she said, "I realized that I'm a lot freer of a spirit. That was the beginning of me standing up for myself."
"I would love to have somebody but this is such a great time in my life, in my career. I really am liking myself," she added.
