Home Alone / The March Sisters At Christmas
It's the season of giving, and Beyoncé has done more than her share of late. The singer just released a video, as well as a box set featuring new songs, remixes and concert footage, and has announced she's working on a collection with Topshop that will launch next fall. And while we wait for this "ath-leisure" line to hit shelves, Beyoncé has pulled another, well, Beyoncé, and secretly dropped a nail collection!
Queen Bey collaborated with her longtime manicurist Lisa Logan and beauty company NCLA to create the NCLA for BEYONCÉ Nail Wrap Collection. Each set is inspired by a video from her visual album or iconic performance, basically her epic year in the spotlight. We reached out to Logan for the details on these wildly amazing nail wraps.
First up: "Je Ne Sais Quoi." This neon design was named after a lyric in Beyoncé's song "Blow," and is inspired by the bright signs that illuminate the video. "When the graphic designers brought this to the table, it was like, wow! It looks as if they're lit up on the nail," Logan shares of the eye-catching design, adding, "It's just enough of a pop of color."
When it comes to "I Come With A Side Of Trouble," we had to know if the black and white wraps (which are named after a lyric in "No Angel") were in fact in Beyoncé's handwriting. Logan couldn't divulge, but did share they had to pay tribute to the entire album in some way. So they created an option that featured the album's entire track list, in addition to notable lyrics like "H-Town Vicious." "I'm just as big a fan as anyone and you can't just choose one song." As for having a black and a white strip in the set? Says Logan, "You can feel like you're being a bad girl with the black nails or do the white side and be an angel. You can mix and match it. You may as well give the fans everything!"
For "No Rest In The Kingdom," Bey and team mixed jewel tones and a fishnet print to mimic the bling-tastic Tom Ford bodysuit she wore during her 2014 MTV VMA Video Vanguard performance in August. "I saw that outfit in person and it's breathtaking," recalls Logan. "These nail wraps actually have a texture to them. You can feel the bumps, each color is a stone. You don't lose how powerful the outfit was."
Lastly, for "I Woke Up Like This," which is probably the most popular lyric from "***Flawless," they gave the black-and-white video a technicolor twist, creating various vibrant plaid designs. "I think you pull something that's memorable from each video. The cool thing is everyone remembers the plaid and the denim shorts. It goes hand in hand with the video."
At $18 a set, we've put in an order for all four (make that 8, one to wear and the other to mount on our walls) already.
Will you be adorning your digits with Beyoncé's nail wraps?
