Haters gon' hate no matter how cute you are—just ask Blue Ivy Carter!

Some people cruelly came together to support a distasteful Change.org petition demanding that Beyoncé and Jay Z "properly care" for their 2-year-old daughter's hair. India Arie heard about this offensive suggestion and is (rightfully) angry that anyone would trash talk the appearance of Blue or any kid.

"Why does ANYone get the idea that its ok to make fun of a child?" the "Cocoa Butter" singer asks in a TwitLonger post. "In public no less? This celebrity culture that hypnotizes people into thinking a person is LITERALLY NOT REAL because you see them on television is a spell the watcher HIM or HER SELF MUST BREAK."

"Blue Ivy—is a CHILD," she reiterates, telling those who might think her priviledged upbringing makes it OK to slam her to stop "DENYING any person their humanity..."

Why, India asks, should you refrain from trolling a toddler? "Because," she writes, "it's not the kind of PERSON YOU WANT TO BE."

"Why NOT be a person who is loving towards human kind as a whole AND people as individuals?" she asks. "WHY NOT be a person protects the hearts of children?"

She pointed out that "all these people making negative comments would feel the SAME WAY if Blue Ivy's hair were TOO DONE."

"being gentle with a child's hair is simply appropriate," she writes. "this goes the same for ALL children."

She signs off by reminding everyone we "ARE better than this."

And we are—and to anyone who isn't, it's time to get some manners, shut your pie hole and join the rest of us in the 21st century.
