Melanie Chisholm lashed out at her Spice Girls bandmate Melanie Brown in a backstage bust-up during the band's heyday - but accidentally punched Geri Halliwell instead.

The group was dogged with rumours of infighting during its time in the spotlight, and Chisholm has now lifted the lid on problems within the five-piece, revealing she once came to blows with Brown when they were drunk.

She tells Britain's Fabulous magazine, "To be honest, there's been lots of tensions between different people. We've all had certain issues with different members of the group at different times. We can be really blunt with each other and sometimes that can be upsetting. We have had issues, but we get over them.

"Me and Melanie had a fight once. We were too drunk. We got a bit pushy, shovey and Geri stepped in the middle to break it up and ended up getting punched in the face.

"Then Melanie went off to be sick, and because she'd been drinking too much port she accused me of making her bleed!"
