A representative for Toni Braxton has downplayed reports linking the singer to funnyman Eddie Murphy.

The Unbreak My Heart hitmaker is said to have started dating the actor four months ago, according to a new Us Weekly report.

A source tells the publication the stars "are seeing each other and very into it," and adds, "Their kids have met and everything. It's getting very serious."

Murphy fuelled the speculation when he was spotted backstage at Braxton's Los Angeles concert on February 19, but her spokesperson insists their relationship is strictly platonic.

The rep says, "Toni and Eddie are just friends and have been fans of each other's work for a long time."

Braxton has two sons with singer Keri Lewis, who she split from in 2009, while Murphy famously dated ex-Spice Girl Melanie Brown after his divorce from Nicole Mitchell.
