Former "X Factor" finalist Simone Battle, who went on to sing in the group GRL, has died at 25 years old. TMZ reports police found Battle dead in her Los Angeles home Friday morning, Sept. 5, from an apparent suicide by hanging.

Battle appeared on Season 1 of the U.S. version of "X Factor." She made it to the Top 17 before being eliminated from the competition. She then went on to join girl group GRL, which was formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.

Among those to pay tribute to Battle after her passing was "X Factor" Season 1 judge Cheryl Cole, who used Twitter to send her condolences.
