Production on Lifetime's Aaliyah movie, tentatively titled "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B" and starring Alexandra Shipp, is now underway, as evidenced by the photos of Shipp in character that Lifetime has released.

Shipp replaced original star Zendaya in the made-for-TV movie after the Disney star expressed concern over the production issues -- including the ability to obtain song rights and the involvement of the late singer's family.

The film recently cast Chattrisse Dolabaille as Missy Elliott and Izaak Smith as Timbaland, per The Wrap.
