Usually where there's smoke, there's fire -- as it looks like is the case of the Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon split rumors.

Cannon spoke to Yahoo's "The Insider" host Chris Spencer (Aug.21) and confirmed that he and Carey are currently living apart.

"There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months," Cannon revealed.

Cannon denied the separation from his wife since 2008, was caused by infidelity, but did tell Spencer, "My main focus is my kids."

The couple are parents to three-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.

Rumors began to creep up early in the week after The New York Post's Page Six reported Carey was growing suspicious that the "America's Got Talent" host had cheated on her, so much so that at an event in Las Vegas, she ordered a security guard to keep an eye on him. As well as other sources stating Carey hated how candid her husband was about their sex life during interviews.

Cannon did not reveal whether or not either party would be filing for an official separation at this time.
