Mariah Carey slummed it on the subway early Friday morning — but in true diva fashion, she looked red carpet-ready in a revealing floor-length gown and silver stiletto heels.

Proving she’s not quite a pop star of the people, the flashy chanteuse took the early morning joyride on the 1 train after attending the Fresh Air Fund’s Spring Gala at New York City’s Chelsea Piers in a bright blue, bejeweled dress.

Carey posted two photos of her rare ride on public transportation to Instagram on Friday, captioning one image “Glimpses of our joyride on the 1 train #subwayincouture.” Her fans loved it: A post of Carey sharing a laugh with two suited gentlemen has already garnered over 30,000 likes.

It remains unclear where her spontaneous subway ride ended.
