Tyra Banks is returning to daytime with a new syndicated lifetime talk show for Disney-ABC set for a 2015 launch. The yet-to-be-named show will have the model-producer-TV personality leading a team of lifestyle experts as they tackle a range of topics – from fashion and beauty to home and entertaining to empowerment and individual enterprise – and will offer a cross-platform experience incorporating Banks’ social media reach of more than 28 million followers across all platforms. Broadcast from Los Angeles, the show will feature celebrities, popular web personalities, experts and everyday people as guests. It will be produced by Disney-ABC’s Summerdale Prods. with Banks as executive producer, and distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television. “Tyra is an enormous and vibrant talent with widespread appeal and we’re eager to introduce her new lifestyle show that will incorporate her personal message of self-confidence to the syndication marketplace,” said Disney-ABC Domestic TV president Janice Marinelli. The show will be taken out to stations shortly. There are no agreements in place, but it is conceivable, given Disney-ABC’s close relationship with the ABC owned & operated stations, that they would be a leading candidate. The stations will have a vacancy this fall, following the end of another Disney-ABC syndicated daytime talk show, Katie, and most stations have not made long-term commitment for the hour, keeping it available for a new taker.

This marks the first major syndicated show green light for Lisa Hackner, who joined ABC as EVP, Daytime & Syndicated programming in October after a long stint at Telepictures. It marks a reunion — while at Telepictures, Hackner developed Banks’ first syndicated daytime talker, The Tyra Banks Show, which ran for five seasons and earned Banks a Daytime Emmy. “Tyra is truly unique in that she is both aspirational and extremely relatable to women of all ages,” Hackner said. “With an extraordinary social media following and legions of fans built over her years on television, Tyra is more relevant than ever.”

For the past decade, Banks has executive produced and toplined the successful America’s Next Top Model reality series, which she co-created. “The fire to inspire women and help them to blaze new paths fiercely burns inside of me,” she said. “I’m excited to be partnering with Disney-ABC to usher in a new era of lifestyle, beauty and entertainment that will inspire women to be the CEO of their lives via honesty, humor and the newest tips and tricks without being intimidating or precious. To my fierce fam of future viewers: I can’t wait to shake up daytime TV together. I have a lot of information to give and still lots to learn. Let’s do it!”
