{blackbabes} ‘Saved By the Bell’ star Lark Voorhies says ex-husband is behind social media hack claiming she has lupus

"Saved By the Bell" fans grew concerned Thursday (Dec. 3) when an Instagram account bearing the name of actress Lark Voorhies posted a lengthy rant about her battle with lupus. But in a strange twist, the 41-year-old actress is now saying that she has never had the disease — that news outlets have been deceived by a fake account — and that her ex-husband is behind the deception.

Since the 1989-1993 high school sitcom went off the air, Voorhies (who played Screech's object of affection Lisa Turtle) has perhaps struggled the most with post-"Bell" acting opportunities. She has also dealt with such personal issues as a rumored drug problem (she sued the National Enquirer in 2006, then settled) and her mother's claims that she has bipolar disorder.

And so, when an Instagram post seemingly had Voorhies blaming her erratic behavior on an illness, the media seems to have found it plausible.

"Lark has never been diagnosed with lupus," her rep tells People. "It's upsetting that people are coming out about it. She doesn't want to be perceived as someone faking an illness."

The statement comes after outlets like Us Weekly reported this week that Voorhies had "opened up to her Instagram followers about waging an ongoing battle against lupus, sharing an open letter to the disease via her personal account."

The letter, which began "Dear Lupus," ran alongside a photo of herself and various inspirational, often rambling sentences. It also claimed that she had been bullied in the past because the disease — an autoimmune, chronic condition that damages skin, joints and organs — had altered her appearance.

According to the rep, however, that account and any others on Instagram are fakes. "There are several unverified Instagram accounts that are not hers … and somebody has hacked her Twitter account to the point she is shutting it down."

That "somebody," it seems, might be Voorhies' ex-husband Jimmy Green. In April, she married the music engineer in a Las Vegas ceremony; six months later, after revelations about his violent past and Voorhies' mother filing a restraining order against Green, they divorced. Lately, Green has been shopping around the couple's sex tape.

"My accounts are continually being hacked by my ex husband," Voorhies' "official Twitter account" posted on Saturday (Dec. 5). "Please respect my privacy at this time during such hiatus! LV."

Assuming that Twitter post is genuine, it would seem that Voorhies is blaming this week's lupus drama on Green (she was also married previously from 1996-2004 to Miguel Coleman, but he's likely not the "ex" she's referring to). In a storyline that is getting harder and harder to differentiate fact from fiction, this much seems clear: Lark Voorhies is a long way from the safe, drama-light world of Bayside High.
