Asked by NME if she'd ever join Swift onstage, the 27-year-old singer responded, "I don't think I would. I just don't think it makes sense."
"I don't think our brands are the same; I don't think they match," Rihanna elaborated. "I don't think our audiences are the same. In my mind she's a role model, I'm not."
One major point of difference: Rihanna, born in 1988, has a tattoo of that year on her right ankle.
Swift, 25, is obviously more interested in the year 1989, even attempting to trademark the phrase "Party like it's 1989" at one point.
Jokes aside, the singer, who's recently been spotted out with Travis Scott, is focusing on her anxiously awaited new record. "It's not done!" she tells the mag, out Friday. "To me it's never done until it's done. Until the final moment."
But Rihanna knows her fans are more than ready. "No matter what I post online, within three comments there's somebody saying, 'Where is R8?' I could post anything. Nothing else matters," she explains. "They don't care about anything but that. But it makes me excited, because I can't wait to give them something great."
