Janet Jackson was scheduled to perform at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday, but it was announced she canceled days before "due to a recent ear issue preventing her from flying," according to a rep for iHeart Media.
But Jackson apparently forgot to clue in her longtime friend and creative director, Gil Duldulao, on the ear excuse.
He tweeted on Sept. 13, following reports she was performing concerts against doctors' wishes, "Ain't nobody got a ear issue. Lawd." A concerned fan thanked him for clearing up the news and Duldulao responded: " . . . that's [the] dumbest thing I ever heard in my life. A ear problem . . . if there was a issue she wouldn't be on time hittin them steps. Lol. And sista is hittin them steps and yes on time. Haha," referring to Jackson's choreography on her current Unbreakable tour. He deleted the tweets after we reached out to Jackson's rep, who wouldn't comment.
An industry source says iHeart is not a favorite with many artists: "Some people don't like to do those kind of radio shows. It's mainly to get artists in front of radio promoters. It may not be a big deal to someone like Janet. If [an artist] can get out of it, then they do."
Jackson performed in Miami on Sunday and has yet to cancel any dates over ear issues.
