Janet Jackson is back! The musician released a video in the wee hours of Saturday (May 16), which just so happens to be the singer's 49th birthday, announcing her new album and world tour.

"I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will," says Jackson, as an instrumental slow-jam plays in the background. "This year -- new music, new world tour, a new movement. I've been listening, let's keep the conversation going."

Jackson's last studio album was "Discipline" and it came out over seven years ago. Of course, in the ensuing years, Jackson and her family have been through a lot -- most notably, the passing of brother Michael in 2009. It makes sense that Jackson would take some time off from music in the wake of his death.

But now she's back, and fans are over the moon with excitement.
