The long-in-the-can seventh installment of NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice will debut on January 4 in the reality series' previous time slot, Sunday 9-11 PM, before moving into its new berth, Monday 8-10 PM, filling in for The Voice while the singing competition is on winter hiatus. The network also officially revealed the celebrity cast of Season 7 that will join Donald Trump and his children Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric in the boardroom. It includes two-time World Series champion Johnny Damon; actor/comedian Gilbert Gottfried; Deadliest Catch star Sig Hansen, musician Kevin Jonas; actor Lorenzo Lamas (ex-Hector, B&B); NFL great Terrell Owens; talk show host Geraldo Rivera; actor Ian Ziering (ex-Cam, Guding Light); Gold Medal Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson; actress Vivica A. Fox (ex-Carmen, Days/ex-Stephanie, Y&R/ex-Maya, Generations); TV host Leeza Gibbons; reality star Brandi Glanville; reality star Kate Gosselin; Olympics gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson; reality star Kenya Moore; and actress Keshia Knight Pulliam. Taking a page from the playbook of ABC, which announces the celebrity casts of Dancing With The Stars on Good Morning America, the cast of The Celebrity Apprentice was unveiled on Today.
Season 7 also features the late Joan Rivers, winner of Season 2, who returned as advisor in two episodes.
The most recent sixth installment of Celebrity Apprentice ended its run in March 2013. Season 7 was filmed in early 2014 but NBC opted for a 9-11 PM drama block of newbies Believe and Crisis on Sunday last midseason. Asked in July about keeping the series on the bench so long, NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt was not worried. "Every few years, some of these reality franchises (rest)," he said. "We took a hiatus on The Biggest Loser and brought that back and was happy to see it come back to life again."
The Celebrity Apprentice is produced by United Artists Media Group, a joint venture among MGM, Mark Burnett, Roma Downey and Hearst Entertainment, in association with Trump Productions. Mark Burnett, Donald Trump, Page Feldman and Eric Van Wagenen are executive producers.
