Just one day after wrapping the U.S. portion of her wildly successful On the Run tour with husband Jay Z, MTV reveals the powerhouse singer, 32, will receive the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 24. She will also perform at the show.
The special award honors an artist's entire body of work, which in Bey's case stretches back to her start in Destiny's Child in the '90s before releasing her first solo album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003.
"Not many singers have the power or ability to command such a massive legion of fans, drop a number one album out of literally nowhere and take the world by storm tour after tour," MTV writes of its decision to honor the singer. "Queen Bey seems to do it with ease and at the same damn time."
Previous Vanguard Award winners include Justin Timberlake, Madonna and Britney Spears.
In addition to the Vanguard Award, Bey is also nominated in eight categories at the awards show this year, more than any other artist.
Beyoncé and husband Jay Z are jointly nominated for video of the year for "Drunk in Love." Her other nominations include best female, best collaboration, best video with a social message, best cinematography, best editing, best choreography and best direction.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from Inglewood, California, on Aug. 24 at 9 p.m. ET.
