Stars are sending their thoughts and prayers to everyone involved in the East Harlem building explosion that occurred on Wednesday morning.

Olivia Wilde and Mariah Carey were one of the first celebrities to take to social media about the tragedy.

"Oh Christ. Just saw news about Harlem explosion. So awful and scary. Hope everyone is okay," the expectant actress posted on Twitter.

"Praying for the safety of everyone in East Harlem," Carey wrote. "My thoughts are with you."

Gabourey Sidibe tweeted, "The explosion in Harlem is so scary. I grew up in Harlem. My heart goes out to the injured and those who lost their lives."

The Hangover's Ken Jeong also wrote on Twitter, "Thoughts and prayers to those affected in East Harlem."

There have been at least two fatalities and more than 18 injuries in connection with the explosion.

Two buildings near 116th Street and Park Avenue collapsed early in the morning, after the initial explosion and fire.

Con Ed spokesman Bob McGee has said that the cause in still unclear, but that they received a call about a gas leak at 9:13 a.m.

The phone call came from a resident at one of the newer buildings on Park Avenue, and according to McGee, a Con Ed truck was sent out two minutes after the conversation.

Unfortunately, the truck arrived shortly after the explosion took place.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio arrived on the scene and told reporters, "This is a tragedy of the worst kind, because there was no indication in time to save people."
