R&B singer Janelle Monae is setting the Rio 2 original soundtrack into flight.

Monae performs the first single from the soundtrack What Is Love and will perform the song on an upcoming episode of American Idol (March 27). She also shows the song off in this exclusive video

The soundtrack also features the new track, Welcome Back, performed by Super Bowl half-time star Bruno Mars, the Grammy winner who makes his big screen debut in Rio 2 as a suave macaw named Roberto.

The album also presents new tracks from Mars' longtime musical collaborator Philip Lawrence, the 15-member Sao Paulo percussion group, Barbatuques, and Brazilian musician Carlinhos Brown (who received a 2012 Academy Award nomination for his song work on the original 2011 Rio) and Brazilian legend Milton Nascimento.

The soundtrack also presents songs from the cast of Rio 2 (opening April 11) including Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx, Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Kristin Chenoweth and Jemaine Clement.

The official soundtrack arrives March 25 (pre-orders begin March 4)
