Role: Teradata Developer/Deployment DBA – Reporting

Job Description:
This person will create, maintain and support the CBG objects (the objects that are being administered are tables, views, stats, for SQL scripts, SQL tuning, etc.) in Dev, QA and Production.
Code Certification and Deployment of SQL scripts put in our Code Repository/Scheduler
Development of pro-active processes for monitoring capacity and performance in coalition with RASC team DBA
Perform system level and application level tuning. Primarily the queries supporting CBG reports/Qlikview apps and extracts and daily jobs.
Training & Support as applicable to development team for database needs
Perform backup and recovery operations as per the agreed Enterprise backup process with RASC/EDW team.
Support of production processes and daily monitoring of the ETL jobs and providing weekly trends/update on the job processes.

Job Requirements:
Willingness to accept and navigate political situations to ensure the program continues to make progress
5+ years experiences as a Teradata Database Administrator/Teradata Database developer
Intimate knowledge of Teradata SQL and its syntax.
Ability to interpret EXPLAIN plans and resolve performance problems
Knowledge of TSET functionality and Teradata partitioning and ability optimize large tables and multi-terabyte systems
Very strong in database design, tuning, and troubleshooting abilities
Must have good experience in the transition of the logical data models to physical data models using
Power Designer or equivalent data modeling tools and should have the ability to understand a laid out model by the architects.
Familiar with BTEQ, TPUMP. FastLoad, Multi Load QueryMan and all relevant Teradata tools and utilities
Experienced in backup and restore (BAR) design and implementation & Disaster Recovery exercises
Very familiar with Unix or similar Scripting languages
Have the ability to mentor developers on best practices, explain plan interpretation etc.
Explore and advise on Teradata new features and functionalities, gather, verify, and socialize industry

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
5 or more years of Teradata DBA experience required
5 or more years of database performance tuning and monitoring experience within a Fortune 500 environment and/or database environments of 20 TB or larger
Teradata release 12.0 or greater experience including the areas of Teradata partitioning and use of T@YS
2 or more years of Programming skills including SQL, BTEQ, UNIX shell programming.
Previous experience working with application development teams, DBA's, application designers/architects, business analysts, and business leaders
