Jada Pinkett Smith remembers a thing or two about young love – and is willing to share some words of wisdom for a lasting marriage with the recently engaged Miley Cyrus.  

"Learn how to be friends, especially when you are starting that young," the Madagascar 3 star says is some of the advice she would give 19-year old Cyrus, who on May 31 became engaged to Liam Hemsworth, 22.

Pinkett Smith, in New York for the premiere of her movie, was also on hand Friday to share "mommy-talk" and advice with mom bloggers at The MOMS, a multiplatform lifestyle brand, and Capri Super V Mamarazzi's event in Times Square.   

"Forever is a long time," Pinkett Smith, 40, says of being in a lasting relationship. "When you are starting forever at 19 years old, and it is not to say that there is anything wrong with that, but it is just to know that what it is now and what it will be, it is just going to continue to transform and change."

Pinkett Smith will celebrate her 15th wedding anniversary to Will Smith on Dec 31, and says she would tell Cyrus and Hemsworth to anticipate "lots of change coming, lots of transitions," as the years go by.

She added that she herself was young when she and Smith started out – 23 years old – and would tell Cyrus, "You have to keep flexibility" in your relationship.

But more than anything, the star says the secret to making a marriage last is, "You have to be with someone you consider as a friend."
