Description:
The DBA groups are starting a new project to create a system that will provide continuous data protection of critical internal and customer financial systems. Successful completion of this project will allow for restoration of data/system corruption within one hour of it's occurrence. They need 2 Production Oracle DBAs to help spearhead the project and to provide the documentation for the process and training to the other DBAs. Some recovery tools (Oracle Flashback and Data Guard) are already implemented in certain groups, but this effort will expand and improve the efficiency of those tools and protection at the storage level.

Objective and Scope of Project: Provide Project Management and Database Administration support for the Continuous Data Protection (CDP) project. PWI organization has identified highly critical database environments that will significantly impact the business and customer experience should the database become unavailable for an extended period of time. The high level goal of the project is to extend our data recover procedures beyond the physical corruption events to include scenarios where logical corruption may occur, such as bad data feed, human error or malicious activities.
Project Deliverables:
Restore production environment from a catastrophic logical corruption event within 1 hour.
Restore production data in a fire call environment with in 1 hour so that impacted data can be fixed in production.
Identify scenarios and create well documented and tested recovery procedures.
Automated processes that will simplify and improve reliability of :
Recovery process
Implementation process
Maintenance processes
Validation of recoverability
Error monitoring and escalation
Restoration to normal production configuration.
Train DBA and support technicians on recovery setup, management and practices.
Additional scope as surfaced by PM

Skills that are absolutely required:
Extensive experience with DB Back-up and Recovery Techniques
5 + years of Production DBA experience , preferably in Large Unix Environments
SAN storage experience
Extensive Shell Scripting experience
Communication/Documentation skills-ability to train, test and document critical process
Management of approx. 10 applications/systems-varying in size and configuration
