A representative for John Mayer has dismissed allegations the rocker has been romancing married TV host Giada De Laurentiis - branding the rumours "ridiculous".

The musician, who has previously dated Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, was linked to The Food Network presenter this week after an article published in Star magazine suggested they had enjoyed a night out together in New York.

But a spokesperson for Mayer is adamant there is no truth to the story, telling PopEater, "The claims are absolutely ridiculous."

While De Laurentiis, adds, "I've met him and he's a great guy, but I just like his music, that's all."
