Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova (The Apprentice) and Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) will star alongside LaKeith Stanfield in Double Blind, a new indie thriller from filmmaker John Hyams (Alone), sources tell Deadline.

While unconfirmed, we're told the film follows a scientist developing a cure for dementia who starts "losing time," watching as his everyday life spirals out of control. What starts as a few lost minutes quickly becomes lost hours and lost days. When he comes out of his latest blackout and sees he has a child he didn't have before, and a palatial home he doesn't recognize, it becomes a race against time to puzzle the pieces together, before he loses everything.

Character details are under wraps. David Lipper of Latigo Films produced alongside Tom Butterfield of Culmination Productions and Richard Reid of BuzzFeed.

In the last year, Bakalova has starred as Ivana Trump, opposite Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, in the buzzy Cannes title The Apprentice from Ali Abbasi. She's also starred in and produced Peter Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva's indie Triumph, which was Bulgaria's official Oscar entry for Best International Feature this past season. Next up, she'll be starring alongside Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh in the Apple pic Mayday from John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. She is repped by CAA, Insight Management, Brookside Artist Management and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman.

Best known for starring in Zach Cregger's breakout horror film Barbarian, Campbell has since then starred in titles like Influencers, The Watchers opposite Dakota Fanning, and Bird Box: Barcelona. She is repped by UTA, Independent Talent Group, Entertainment 360, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.

Next to be seen in films like Derek Cianfrance's Roofman and Lynne Ramsay's Die My Love, Stanfield is repped by CAA, Stark Management and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.

Best known for helming the thriller Alone starring Maarc Menchaca, Hyams has also helmed films including doc The Smashing Machine on former MMA fighter Mark Kerr — the subject of A24's forthcoming film of the same name, starring Dwayne Johnson – and All Square, among others. He's also directed episodes of shows like Chicago P.D., The Recruit and The Rookie and is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.

NEW YORK (AP) — Serena and Venus Williams are taking a swing at podcasting.

The two sisters and tennis stars — Serena finished her career at the 2022 U.S. Open; Venus just competed at that tournament in singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles — will launch their podcast on X with a debut episode Wednesday.

The podcast is called "Stockton Street," named for where their home was in Compton, California. It is set to air every other week on Wednesdays and will be distributed on the social media site formerly known as Twitter.

The first episode was filmed at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the main arena for the U.S. Open, where Serena won six of her 23 Grand Slam singles titles, and Venus collected two of her seven.

The 45-year-old Venus just became the oldest singles entrant at the U.S. Open since 1981. She returned to the tennis tour in July after a 16-month absence.

{blackbabes} ‘Beyond the Gates’ Fall 2025 Preview: ‘B&B’ Crossover, ‘Sexy’ New Face & More

https://www.tvinsider.com/1214795/beyond-the-gates-fall-2025-preview-crossover-storylines-spoilers/

"It's literally a dream come true," says Michele Val Jean, creator, head writer and executive producer of CBS's newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates, describing the whirlwind of the past seven months since the show's launch.

"Everything about it — from the green light, which I'd never expected, because we don't live in a world where soaps are greenlit anymore — to the whole casting process, to being in Atlanta for the first three weeks of shooting, was surreal," she continues. "This project had been in the works at that point for four years, and so after all that time, to hear the actors breathe life into the words was just amazing."

For the seven-time Emmy-winner, whose résumé includes General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, Santa Barbara and Generations, steering her own project is nothing less than a dream realized and a major career milestone. She credits Sheila Ducksworth, president of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, as a crucial advocate who believed in her vision from the start. "Sheila was the engine that could," declares Val Jean. "She always believed it was going to go. And I never believed it was going to go, so I'm happy to have been proven wrong."

Keith D. Robinson and Daphnee Duplaix - 'Beyond the Gates'

Val Jean is especially proud of the bold storytelling the show has delivered in its first season, pointing to several standout moments as highlights. "Ted and Nicole's anniversary party, when we blew that marriage all to hell," she lists. "The reveal of Martin's secret — I thought that was really powerful, and something that had never been done on daytime before. And I love the Articulettes' reunion and everything around that group of women, that was one of my favorite things."

That momentum carried into a second-season pickup, news that thrilled the entire team. "We're all excited," she enthuses. "I happened to be in Atlanta when [CBS CEO and president] George Cheeks made the announcement that we were picked up for a second season. It was a wonderful, wonderful moment. Everybody was just so excited, and here we are embarking on that."

As for what's ahead in season 2, Val Jean is focused on pushing boundaries while staying true to the heart of the genre. "We just want to keep it moving, keep it interesting, keep it flowing, surprising the audience," she says. "One of the things that I really wanted to do with the show was not have it look, sound, or be like other shows; I wanted to be its own little experiment and go against the audience expectation. I see a lot of speculation online about where we're going, and it makes me smile, because a lot of the time that's not where we're going."

One of the most meaningful aspects of the journey has been the reception from the soap opera community itself. "When [the show] had been announced at the Emmys last year, everybody was coming up to me, talking about how happy they were, how good it was for the genre, how surprising it was that it was happening," she relays. "There was so much support across the board. We're a small community, small but mighty. And we're also united in the fact that we're kind of looked down upon. It's like the 'ugly stepchildren' of the industry, because we're soap opera people. And nobody knows how hard we work, except us. It takes work to do this medium, to get five hours of television on the air every week, year in and year out. Thirty-plus years later, it still blows me away. I still say, 'How are we even doing this?' But the support of the community means everything."

As does the support from her former B&B boss, executive producer and head writer Brad Bell. "I was writing on Bold and the Beautiful when Sheila asked me to write the bible for this show, and he just has been the staunchest supporter of this and cheerleader," Val Jean praises. "I was so grateful because I wasn't going to give up my day job and he was really understanding. When I had to finish the bible, he took me out of the script rotation and then put me back in when I was done. And he's just been fantastic."

Despite her many accomplishments, there's one honor that still catches Val Jean off guard. "The 'Created by' credit? I can never get used to it on the air," she smiles. "Sometimes I rewind it and look at it again. Thirty years in the business, and I never really thought I would end up here, but I'm grateful and happy to be here and just doing my best. And I will keep doing my best."

Bryton James and Karla Mosley - 'Beyond the Gates'

The Young and the Restless star Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) appeared on BTG in August, and now, The Bold and the Beautiful's Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) is set to pop up as well. "I think it's really great, because we all inhabit the same world, and it's just so much fun to sort of sneak into each other's shows," says Val Jean. "I loved Bryton, but because of my history on Bold and the Beautiful, it was just really, really fun for me to cross Thorsten and Karla [Mosley, Dani Dupree; ex-Maya Avant, B&B]. And I hope we do more crossovers."

Meanwhile, look for a new face to join the BTG family. Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) has been added to the cast as Jacob Hawthorne's (Jibre Hordges) brother. "He is not Jacob by any means," notes Val Jean. "He's the black sheep of the family, but he got a hand up by somebody that will surprise you. He is going to be a new love interest for one of our lucky ladies. He's going to be a counselor at Banneker, which is a university, so he'll be the door to open up that world to us. He's very cute, and he's very sexy, and he's a good actor, and I'm really happy to have him on our canvas."

And there's even more casting news to come. "There's going to be another surprise down the road that soap fans will like," she teases.

Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis - 'Beyond the Gates'

Exciting Storylines Ahead

Fall in Fairmont Crest is shaping up to be unforgettable. "All the soapy things — family secrets, unexpected terms, betrayals, surprises," Val Jean previews.

  • Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon's (Clifton Davis) marriage may not be on solid footing.
  • Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre's (Sean Freeman) impromptu trip together leads to shocking revelations and directs Dani toward a promising connection with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) in a crossover with The Bold and the Beautiful.
  • Nicole's (Daphnee Duplaix) journey as a newly single woman sends her down a path toward her longtime friend Carlton (Robert Christopher Reilly).
  • While Martin (Brandon Claybon) and Smitty (Mike Manning) work to re-establish their commitment to each other, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) unexpectedly find themselves on opposite sides of a major marital dilemma.
  • Jacob's brother Izaiah Hawthorne (David Lami Friebe) hits town and immediately establishes two complicated relationships amidst his own family drama.
  • Eva (Ambyr Michelle), Kat (Colby Muhammad), and Tomas' (Alex Alegria) love triangle hits a fever pitch.
  • A surprising familial connection to Hayley (Marquita Goings) poses a threat to Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett).
  • Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) and Ashley's (Jen Jacob) worlds come crashing down around them as lies and the death of a loved one change everything.

{blackbabes} ‘Boston Blue’: Donnie Wahlberg & Sonequa Martin-Green Tease New Partners’ Bond & Emotional Series Premiere

https://www.tvinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Boston-Blue-1-770x433.jpg

Can Boston Blue bring viewers back to CBS for Friday-night dinners? Cocreators Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier didn't plan for their series about a cop relocating to Boston to be near his son to become a Blue Bloods spinoff, but they jumped at the chance to make it one when opportunity knocked during development.

Only a few tweaks were needed to insert Danny Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg's tough New York detective, into the world. After fruitlessly trying to keep Blue Bloods from cancellation, Wahlberg says, "When the opportunity came to expand the universe, thought I felt the weight of expectations, I couldn't say no to carrying on that legacy."

When the series opens, Danny has transferred to the Boston PD after his son Sean (Reacher's Mika Amonson, replacing Blue Bloods' Andrew Terraciano) has a crisis at the BPD academy. The Silvers, a close-knit law enforcement-filled family, befriend the homesick Sean, whom their son Jonah (black-ish's Marcus Scribner) met during police training, inviting him over for dinner. Sonnier admits that the family is inspired by the Reagans, "who are all about faith, family and tradition," but with one twist. "Like my family," he adds, "the Silvers are Jewish and multiracial."

Their weekly get-together is a Friday night Shabbat meal. At the table: widowed DA Mae Silver (Gloria Reuben), Jonah, Mae's police superintendent stepdaughter Sarah (Maggie Lawson), her detective daughter Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) — Danny's partner — and her father, a Baptist reverend (Ernie Hudson).

"We will understand what brings Danny to Boston and how important it," says Wahlberg, "and why that's enough reason for him to stay.  Finding out that his son is close to a family that is very reminiscent of his own, while they have their own faith and tradition, does create a sort of safe place for to get what he's missing. It's a very emotional end of the first episode," he adds.

"This show is full of heart," says Martin-Green, who admits she had never seen Blue Bloods. "The franchise is built on family, loyalty, and law enforcement, and I want to do the character and the story justice. We want to make sure families who watch really connect with us."

Helping that connection is the relationship between Danny and his new partner Lena, who is a respected member of the Boston force. "She is brilliant at what she does, but she also has a joy to her," Martin-Green says.

Their connection "starts with an investigation that Lena's working on, and Danny is allowed to help her due to the circumstance," shares Wahlberg. "It's a phenomenal partnership, partially because they are both detectives from police families and it develops pretty quickly. They have this common thread where they can actually help each other and give each other perspective."

Blue Blood fans can expect more Reagans to show up on the new show. First up is ADA Erin (Bridget Moynahan). She'll get to the meet "the wonderful cast," says Wahlberg. "What a blessing to have Erin," Martin-Green adds.

"Just like the Reagans, the Silvers have to balance our family dynamic with our professional dynamic," affirms Martin-Green. "How do we make sure we're staying true to the job, while also staying true to each other? That's what makes the story so exciting and, I think thrilling."

{blackbabes} #OneChicago Trailer Introduces a Big Med Baby Daddy Clue, New Fire and P.D. Characters and More — Watch

--

Video: https://youtu.be/sWNjr1LLmRY

Did NBC just hint at the identity of Hannah's baby daddy on Chicago Med?

People revealed the first trailer for the #OneChicago franchise's fall lineup on Thursday, which offers a glimpse at Ripley's reaction to finding out Hannah is pregnant in Chicago Med Season 11.

"You're pregnant? How could you not tell me?" he says, implying that Ripley himself believes he's the father of this baby.

As you'll recall, Season 10 of the NBC medical drama ended on a major cliffhanger: After Hannah found out she was pregnant, viewers were left wondering who the father of her baby might be after what showrunner Allen MacDonald called a "Silence of the Lambs bait-and-switch" in the finale.

Elsewhere in the promo, we get our first glimpse at a couple of new characters. First up, we meet Chicago P.D.'s officer Eva Imani (Arienne Mandi), who says the disbanded Intelligence Unit is giving off "a real Brady Bunch vibe." The Season 12 finale saw the team get broken up after Voight's bad behavior, and in Season 13, things don't look like they're going well. "There are consequences to my team being benched: lives lost," Voight says in the teaser.

Plus, the footage catches Chicago Fire Season 14 newcomer Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente) looking in over his head as he drives the rig past a flaming truck. "Do not get too close," Kidd warns as Vasquez just narrowly misses the blazing hazard.

Chicago Med Season 11 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7c on NBC, followed by Chicago Fire Season 14 at 9 pm and Chicago P.D. Season 13 at 10 pm.

{blackbabes} Venus Williams’ US Open ends with a loss in the women’s doubles quarterfinals to Taylor Townsend

NEW YORK (AP) — Venus Williams' first Grand Slam tournament in two years ended on Tuesday when she and Leylah Fernandez lost in the U.S. Open women's doubles quarterfinals to the top-seeded duo of Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova 6-1, 6-2.

When the match finished after 56 minutes in Louis Armstrong Stadium, Williams smiled as she walked to the net to shake hands with Siniakova, then hug Townsend. Thousands of spectators rose to give Williams a standing ovation; Townsend and Siniakova then joined in, applauding for Williams.

"Growing up watching Venus and (her sister) Serena, for me and my sister, it was an inspiration," Townsend told the crowd. "It was an honor to share the court today."

Siniakova called Williams "a legend" and said it was "a privilege" to play against her.

The 45-year-old Williams earlier exited in the first round of both singles — bowing out against Karolina Muchova in three sets — and mixed doubles. She was out of competition for 16 months until returning to play at a tournament in Washington in July. Her most recent major tournament had been the 2023 U.S. Open.

"What I'm proudest of is it's not easy to come off the bench. It really isn't, and I have never had a layoff that long. It brought new challenges that I wasn't ready for in so many ways. So I'm very proud that I ... stayed myself. I didn't try to play another game. I didn't try to play it safe. I went for it, and that's who I am. I go for it. When you go for it, good things happen," Williams said. "Perhaps I didn't get there this time, but I know who I am, and I know that I can work once I have a little chance."

She said she wasn't sure of future plans but made it sound as if she plans to play again.

"Seeing Venus playing on court for joy just kind of brought me back as to why I started playing tennis," said Fernandez, a 22-year-old from Canada who was the 2021 singles runner-up in New York.

Williams and Fernandez received a wild-card entry from the U.S. Tennis Association and had not lost a set in their first three matches of their debut as a team.

Townsend, who currently is ranked No. 1 in doubles, and Siniakova are an experienced duo who won Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open this year together. Siniakova has won a total of 10 Grand Slam titles in women's doubles.

Williams, of course, is the owner of 14 Grand Slam titles in women's doubles alongside Serena, who left the professional tour in 2022.

The older Williams sibling also has won seven major singles championships and another two in mixed doubles.

She was the oldest player in the singles draw at the U.S. Open since 1981.

Townsend's time in Flushing Meadows continues in women's doubles after she failed to convert eight match points and got knocked out of singles in the fourth round by Barbora Krejcikova.

"It was a tough match, but ultimately, I left everything out on the court. That was the only thing that me and the team could ask for," Townsend said. "I really feel like matches like that are defining moments and opportunities. You can either go up or go down."

Townsend also was in the spotlight for a tense postmatch exchange of words with Jelena Ostapenko after a singles match.

In the doubles semifinals, Townsend and Siniakova will meet the No. 4 seeds, Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens. The other semifinal matchup is No. 2 Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini against No. 3 Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe.

Kudermetova and Mertens won Wimbledon last month. Errani and Paolini won the French Open in June.

{blackbabes} Kenya Barris & Kim Kardashian-Produced Hulu Pilot ‘Group Chat’ Sets 4 Leads Joining La La Anthony

Headshots of Yaya DaCosta, Melanie Liburd, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Stephanie Suganami

The Hulu pilot Group Chat has cast its four leads to join the previously announced La La Anthony: Yaya DaCosta (The Lincoln Lawyer, Chicago Med), Melanie Liburd (This Is Us, The Idol), Rebecca Rittenhouse (Maggie, His and Hers), and Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost, Dr. Odyssey).

Amid her busy schedule as executive producer and star of Ryan Murphy's upcoming Hulu series All's Fair, Kardashian will serve as Group Chat's narrator and guest star, we hear.

Loosely inspired by Anthony's bestseller The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness, Group Chat is a satirical comedy about six fly, successful women in their forties who have conquered LA and seemingly have it all. But behind their picture-perfect lives is a group chat that tells the real story — one that's the heart line of their friendship and where the real drama unfolds. Because, in their world, the truth is even more wild, unfiltered, and juicier than anyone could ever imagine.

Specific details regarding the individual characters to be played by Anthony, DaCosta, Liburd, Rittenhouse, and Suganami are under wraps.

The pilot landed at Hulu for development in summer 2024 as the first project under a first-look deal Kardashian signed with 20th Television. Group Chat is executive-produced by Kenya Barris and Adam Kassan on behalf of the former's Khalabo Ink Society, Kardashian, and her longtime friend Anthony. The Disney TV Studios division co-produces the comedy with BET Studios, where Barris is a principal partner.

DaCosta is best known for her roles as cut-throat prosecutor Andrea Freeman on Netflix's The Lincoln Lawyer, Whitney Houston in the biopic Whitney, April Sexton on NBC's Chicago Med, Angela Vaughn on Fox's Our Kind of People, and, most recently, Monique Smith in Lifetime's Not My Family: The Monique Smith Story, which she executive-produced. DaCosta is repped by Gersh.

Liburd most recently recurred as Jenna on HBO's The Idol and Professor Carrie Milgran in the Starz hit crime drama Power Book II: Ghost. Her additional TV credits include ABC's High Potential, NBC's This Is Us, and Syfy's Dark Matter. She is repped by IAG and Untitled Entertainment.

Rittenhouse most recently appeared in the Netflix series Running Point. Before that, she had leading roles in two Hulu projects, including the sitcom Maggie and the miniseries Four Weddings and a Funeral. Additional credits include ABC's Blood and Oil, as well as Hulu's The Mindy Project. Rittenhouse is repped by Rogue Management and CAA.

Suganami can most recently be seen opposite Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich in the A24 psychological horror film Opus, directed by Mark Anthony Green, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Before that, she was cast alongside Zoey Deutch and Shay Mitchell in the Amazon Studios feature film Something From Tiffany's, produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine. Additional credits include the final season of Starz's Power Book II: Ghost and Ryan Murphy's ABC series Dr. Odyssey. She is repped by M88, Gersh, and Granderson Des Rochers.

Kardashian recently starred in FX's American Horror Story: Delicate from Ryan Murphy and 20th Television. The Kardashian and Jenner family reality series, The Kardashians, is heading into its seventh season on Hulu. She is repped by WME.
