{blackbabes} Omari Hardwick, Meagan Good To Star In ‘A Boy. A Girl. A Dream: Love On Election Night’

Power's Omari Hardwick and Meagan Good, who stars in Hulu's upcoming Foxy Brown, will star in the indie romance drama A Boy. A Girl. A Dream: Love On Election Night. The film, which is about a budding romance during Trump's election night, co-stars Jay Ellis (Insecure), Dijon Talton, Wesley Jonathan, and Affion Crockett.

Produced by Datari Turner and written and directed by Qasim Basir (Destined), the story follows a Los Angeles club promoter named Cass (Hardwick), who on the night of the 2016 Presidential Election meets a woman named Free (Good) who challenges him to revisit his broken dreams. This happens during a series of unfortunate events during the time that Trump is surging ahead of Hilary Clinton.

Turner, who is producing through his Datari Turner Productions banner, currently has a first-look TV agreement with Entertainment One for unscripted projects. Through that deal, Turner is the creator/executive producer of the WETV series Growing Up Hip Hop, which is not only in its third season but is the highest-rated series on the network. That has given birth to more spinoffs in development — GUHH Atlanta and GUHH Miami.

Supermodel, a film that Turner co-wrote, produced and co-starred in, was recently acquired by Netflix and will premiere later this year. His other films over the years LUV, Ten Thousand Saints, Salvation Boulevard, Another Happy Day, and most recently Gook have all received premieres at the Sundance Film Festival.

Basir's most recent film, Destined, bows this fall. It premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival last year and went on to win nine awards, including both the Best Director and Best Actor awards at the American Black Film Festival.

Good, who also starred and co-produced the indie films A Girl Like Grace, Video Girl, and Dysfunctional Friends with Turner, is an executive producer on the film as is Hardwick. Tim Weatherspoon, Louis Steyn, TJ Steyn, Phil Thornton, Jash'd Belcher and Jamal Childs also are executive producers.

Hardwick is repped by Gersh, The Lasher Group, and attorney Shelby J. Weiser. Good is repped by Gersh, Primary Wave, and attorney Greg Gellman at Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellmman. Turner is repped by CAA and attorney Ryan Nord at Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof & Fishman. Basir is repped by APA and Zero Gravity Management.

{blackbabes} Hamilton inspired by 'beautiful' Serena in Nastase row

Sochi (Russia) (AFP) - Lewis Hamilton on Thursday said he felt inspired by Serena Williams's "beautiful" reaction to being a victim of racial abuse by former tennis champion Ilie Nastase.

The three-time world champion driver, who is a close friend of the 23-time Grand Slam winning tennis player, praised the American as a "powerful, independent black woman".

Nastase, a former French and US Open champion, was heard saying of the pregnant Williams' baby, due later this year: "Let's see what colour it has. Chocolate with milk?"

Williams responded saying: "It disappoints me to know we live in a society where people like Ilie Nastase can make such racist comments towards myself and unborn child."

Hamilton re-posted her Instagram message and spoke out in support of her when he told reporters at the Russian Grand Prix on Thursday: "I'm very much with her in what she said.

"I thought it was beautiful what she wrote as a powerful, independent black woman. I just think she's awesome.

"She's not only one of the greatest people I know, but she's just a born leader and so, rather than react in a negative way, reading what she's written just inspires me -- and hopefully inspires others."

{blackbabes} Anika Noni Rose Options ‘Shadowshaper’ YA Fantasy Series For Film & TV

Anika Noni Rose Shadowshaper

Anika Noni Rose and her production company Roaring Virgin Productions have optioned TV and film rights to Shadowshaper, Daniel José Older's bestselling YA fantasy series. It marks the second deal between Rose and Older after she acquired his urban fantasy series Bone Street Rumba.

Shadowshaper, published in 2015 by Arthur A. Levine Books and named a New York Times Notable Book of that year,  introduced Sierra Santiago, who lives in Brooklyn and discovers shadowshaping, a magic that infuses ancestral spirits into paintings, music, and stories. But someone is killing the shadowshapers one by one — and the killer believes Sierra is hiding their greatest secret. A second book in the Shadowshaper Cypher series, Shadowhouse Fall, is due out in September.

"Shadowshaper was a book I couldn't put down," said Rose. "At a time when so many are feeling powerless, Sierra Santiago is a young Afro-Latina heroine who finds her power within herself. Through a strong spiritual connection to her ancestors, the discovery of the magic living in her art, and with the help of some amazing friends, she saves her family, and her Brooklyn neighborhood from certain destruction. A face and culture we rarely see on screen; she is the heroine we've been searching for, only to find she lives right next door."

On the acting side Rose, a Tony winner for Caroline, Or Change, just wrapped filming Assassination Nation and is next on the screen in Warner Bros' Everything, Everything. She is repped by Innovative Artists, David Williams Management, MGMT and attorney James Adams.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams Confirms Pregnancy Photo Was Posted By Accident

Serena Williams just confirmed her pregnancy announcement was made by accident ... but was only off by about 5 or 6 days.

The tennis star admitted to the social media flub Tuesday at a TED Talks conference in Vancouver with Gayle King -- where she said she had meant to take the pic in private ... but somehow blasted it out the world.

Serena told Gayle ... "On social media, you press the wrong button and thirty minutes later I missed four calls and I'm like, 'That's weird.'"

Doesn't sound like she regrets the early announcement -- she said she was gonna publicly disclose it a few days later anyway. The news also came on the heels of her rising back to No. 1 in the women's tennis rankings ... which ain't bad for someone who hasn't played since January.

Unfortunately ... she also had to deal with haters like former tennis pro Ilie Nastase, who made a racist comment about her future baby. She shut him down like a champ, though.

{blackbabes} Beyoncé and Jay Z put in $120M bid for sprawling Bel Air mansion

Beyoncé and Jay Z have put in a $120 million bid for a stunning hilltop Bel Air mansion that boasts four pools, eight bedrooms — and even bulletproof windows.

As Beyoncé prepares to give birth to twins, she and Jay are planning to move their family to Los Angeles from New York in search of more privacy. They have bid on the breathtaking newly constructed mansion at 454 Cuesta Way in Bel Air's private East Gate area.

The place, which is being sold off-market for an asking price of $135 million, has just been completely remodeled from the ground up, and also boasts 11 bathrooms, a media room, space for a recording studio, a garage that can fit 15 cars, separate staff quarters and a big spa with a hot tub, sauna and steam room.

The hilltop location offers extra privacy, along with the woven metal security gates. It also offers sweeping views of Los Angeles.

The sprawling mansion spreads across six separate structures encompassing more than 30,000 square feet and more than 10,000 square feet of outdoor living space on two acres of land.

The house has been completely rebuilt by Irish firm McKillen Developments, which also redeveloped and owns landmark London hotels Claridge's, the Connaught and the Berkeley.

Described as a "masterpiece," the manse was designed by acclaimed architect Paul McClean.

A real estate source told Page Six, "The house is beyond words. No expense was spared in design or execution."

Famous residents of East Gate Bel Air include Salma Hayek, Tom Jones and Michael Eisner.

Jay and Bey have been looking to buy an LA pad for years. In 2014, they were interested in a home built by Bruce Makowsky, but Minecraft billionaire Markus Persson beat them to it, paying $70 million. Then there was the Beverly Hills mansion that Tom Ford reportedly outbid them on. Since then, they've only rented mansions in LA.

But the couple is anxious to get settled in a new home since the twins are likely to arrive in June. They've also been checking out private kindergartens in the area for their daughter, Blue Ivy, 5.

A rep for Jay and Bey didn't comment.

{blackbabes} Serena Williams speaks out against Ilie Nastase

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Serena Williams has spoken out in response to suspended Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase's comments speculating about the skin color of the baby the pregnant Williams is expecting.

The 23-time major champion wrote on Instagram on Monday: "It disappoints me to know we live in a society where people like Ilie Nastase can make such racist comments towards myself and (my) unborn child."

Williams is black. Her fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is white.

Williams also referred to Nastase's "sexist comments against my peers" — a reference to his verbal abuse directed at British player Johanna Konta, British captain Anne Keothavong and the chair umpire during Fed Cup matches over the weekend. He was ejected from the Romania vs. Britain contest and provisionally suspended by the International Tennis Federation.

Williams said: "I humbly thank the ITF for any consideration given to all the facts in this case. They will have my full support."

She also wrote: "I have said it once and I'll say it again, this world has come so far but yet we have so much further to go. Yes, we have broken down so many barriers- however there are a plethora more to go. This or anything else will not stop me from pouring love, light and positivity into everything that I do. I will continue to take a lead and stand up for what's right."

Nastase, for his part, was unrepentant, saying that he didn't believe his remarks at a news conference Friday about Williams' baby were racist.

"I want to know what word I used is racist?" he said Monday in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from Budapest, Hungary.

He added that he is a friend of Williams.

As for what happened during the matches against Britain, Nastase acknowledged: "Yes, I lost my temper."

But he called his punishment "crazy."

Nastase earned the nickname "Nasty" for his on-court outbursts and gamesmanship in his playing heyday in the 1970s. But it also described his game, which earned him two Grand Slam singles titles and more than 100 ATP titles. He's a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Reactions in Romania to Nastase's outburst have been mixed.

George Cosac, the chairman of the Romanian Tennis Federation, defended Nastase by suggesting he was picked on by the British officials. Ion Tiriac, a businessman and Nastase's old doubles partner, also stood by him, criticizing Konta for walking off the court.

However, many Romanians were critical of Nastase on social media, saying he embarrassed himself and Romania.

{blackbabes} Serena thanks unborn baby after returning to world number one

LONDON (Reuters) - Serena Williams returned to the top of the WTA world rankings on Monday and immediately shared the news with her unborn baby.

The American, who is skipping the rest of the year after announcing last week that she was pregnant, took to social media to offer her first public thoughts on impending motherhood.

"My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn't know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace," the 35-year-old who owns 23 grand slam titles, said on Instagram.

"I can't wait to meet you. I can't wait for you to join the players box next year," she continues.

"But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you... once again today. From the world's oldest number one to the world's youngest number one. - Your Mommy."

Williams set off a day of frenzied speculation last Wednesday with a selfie posted on social media -- posing for a photo in a yellow one-piece swimsuit on Snapchat -- with the caption "20 weeks".

She deleted the post shortly afterwards but her Los Angeles-based publicist Kelly Bush Novak later confirmed that the player, who is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, was indeed expecting her first child.

It seems likely she was several weeks pregnant when she won this year's Australian Open to move to within one grand slam title of matching Australian Margaret Court's record of 24.

Her message on Monday appears to underline her resolve to return to action next year.

Despite not having played since January when she moved ahead of Steffi Graf as the most successful tennis player in the professional era by beating sister Venus in the Australian Open final, she replaced Germany's Angelique Kerber as world number one in the rankings on Monday.

{blackbabes} Spokesperson confirms Serena pregnancy

It's another love game for Serena Williams: She is pregnant — and, based on the timeline she offered, she already was when she won the Australian Open.

A spokeswoman for Serena Williams says the tennis star is pregnant.

Kelly Bush Novak wrote in an email to The Associated Press on Wednesday: "I'm happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this Fall."

Earlier in the day, Williams posted a photo of herself on the social media site Snapchat with the caption "20 weeks."

The 35-year-old Williams won her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open in January — a little less than 12 weeks ago — and has not competed since, citing a knee injury when withdrawing from tournaments at Indian Wells, California, and Key Biscayne, Florida.

She announced in late December that she was engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

Williams would appear to be out for the rest of this tennis season, a blow to a sport in which she is an unqualified star — and, of course, something that makes major titles easier to come by for other competitors. The next major tournament is the French Open, which starts on May 28. Wimbledon begins in early July, and the U.S. Open in late August.

There is recent precedent for tennis players to return to action after becoming a mother. Kim Clijsters retired briefly to start a family, then came back to action and won Grand Slam titles. Another former No. 1 and major champion, Victoria Azarenka, has announced she'll be getting back on tour soon after having a baby.

Williams' 23 Grand Slam singles titles are a record for the Open era, which began in 1968 — she broke a tie with Steffi Graf in Australia. Only one woman has won more: Margaret Smith Court, who claimed part of her 24 during the amateur era.

{blackbabes} Life-Size Sequel, Starring Tyra Banks, Coming to Freeform as Holiday Event

Freeform wants you to shine bright, shine far and be a star all over again.

In advance of its upfront presentation on Wednesday, the network announced a sequel to Life-Size, the 2000 movie about a doll (played by Tyra Banks) that comes to life after a young girl (Lindsay Lohan) attempts to resurrect her mother via a magic spell.

Along with serving as an executive producer, Banks will reprise her role as living-doll Eve in the movie — appropriately titled Life-Size 2 — which will air as part of Freeform's "25 Days of Christmas" lineup in 2018. Here's a quick synopsis of the holiday sequel:

In the sequel, everyone's favorite doll Eve has grown up. This time, she's magically awoken to help a young woman learn to live and love again, and along the way, Eve herself will experience the ups and downs of real life in a fun, edgy, modern Christmas movie.

Curiously, the synopsis doesn't reveal the name of the young woman in question. (I know it's a long shot, but I'm crossing my fingers that it's a grown-up version of Lohan's character, even if she isn't played by Lohan herself.)

{blackbabes} Queen Latifah, Betsy Brandt, Jill Scott & Marin Ireland To Star In Lifetime’s Flint Water Crisis Movie

Directed by Bruce Beresford from a script by Barbara Stepansky, Flint was inspired by the Time magazine cover story, "The Toxic Tap," by Josh Sanburn. It follows the true story of three women from Flint who sought justice following the wrongdoing committed against the residents of the city who were unknowingly drinking and using lead-laden water. Their actions inspired a national movement for safe drinking water despite the political powers working against them at every turn. Brandt, Scott and Ireland will play real-life activists and Latifah will play a fourth resident, fighting to expose the poisoning of the community during the horrific events of the water crisis.

Cher was previously attached to star in and executive produce but pulled out last month citing a serious family issue that prevents her from leaving Los Angeles. Flint begins production next week in Toronto.

Zadan and Meron of Storyline Entertainment and Couric executive produce alongside Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere via their Flavor Unit. Storyline's Mark Nicholson serves as co-executive producer.

Breaking Bad alumna Brandt, now one of the stars of the CBS comedy series Life In Pieces, is repped by TalentWorks, Patty Woo management and attorney John Moonves.

{blackbabes} UnREAL Adds Tracie Thoms as Quinn's Lesbian Friend for Season 3

Tracie Thoms Cast UnREAL Season 3 Lifetime Fiona

Quinn is getting a friend — yes, Quinn has friends — in UnREAL's upcoming third season.

Cold Case veteran Tracie Thoms is joining the cast of Lifetime's Bachelor-skewering drama series in a recurring role, our sister site Deadline is reporting. She'll play Fiona, an entertainment executive whose friendship with Everlasting producer Quinn (Constance Zimmer) goes back decades. And she won't be competing with Quinn for men, either: The description calls her "a fun-loving, gorgeous gay woman with swagger."

UnREAL is looking to bounce back from a disappointing sophomore season by shaking up the format: Masters of Sex's Caitlin FitzGerald will join the cast as the first female suitor in Everlasting history, choosing from a bevy of eligible hunks. Season 3 doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it's expected to debut sometime this summer.

{blackbabes} Why Janelle Monae thinks women should withhold sex

Janelle Monae is ready to withhold sex "until every man is fighting for" women's rights, she says.

"People have to start respecting the vagina," Monae, 31, told Marie Claire. "Until every man is fighting for our rights, we should consider stopping having sex. I love men. But evil men? I will not tolerate that. You don't deserve to be in my presence."

In fact, she wants all women to consider taking the same action. The concept is the premise of the ancient Greek comedy "Lysistrata" and most recently in Spike Lee's 2015 film "Chiraq."

She's calling for men everywhere to participate in change and work for equality. "We have to realize our power and our magic," Monae said. "Because I am all about black girl magic, even though I'm standing with all women. But this year? This year, I am so carefree black girl."

Monae is rejecting societal norms and blazing her own way.

"Women automatically are told that this how you should look," she started. "This is how you should get a man. This is how you should get a woman. You need to fit into all these boxes to be accepted. I don't subscribe to that way of thinking. I don't think we all have to take the same coordinates to reach the same destination."

Through her music, style and film roles she's chosen, Monae has carved out her own niche.

"I believe in embracing what makes you unique even if it makes others uncomfortable," she said. "I have learned there is power in saying no. I have agency. I get to decide."
