{blackbabes} Elizabeth Cullen, Sofia Rose Lead Voice Cast Of Animated Family Feature ‘The Neverending Pillow Fort’ Launching Sales At Cannes; David Tennant, Guy Pearce, Teresa Palmer & Marsai Martin Also Set

Elizabeth Cullen, Sofia Rose, David Tennant, Guy Pearce, Teresa Palmer, and Marsai Martin

Elizabeth Cullen (Elvis) and newcomer Sofia Rose are set to lead The Neverending Pillow Fort, a new animated feature based on a children’s novel by Will Taylor, for which Sola Media is launching international sales at Cannes.

Others in the cast include David Tennant (Doctor Who), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Teresa Palmer (A Discovery of Witches), and Marsai Martin (Black-ish).

Currently in production in Australia, under the direction of BAFTA nominee Allison Brownmoore (The Amazing Adventures of Awesome), The Neverending Pillow Fort follows best friends Maggie (Cullen) and Abby (Rose), whose lifelong bond, built on imaginative pillow fort adventures, is tested when Abby returns from camp eager to embrace the real world and new friendships. When their fort reveals a magical ability to transport them to worlds across the globe, the girls embark on a whirlwind adventure that brings them closer again. But as they journey through strange and wondrous places, Maggie must confront the reality that growing up may mean learning to let things change.

Adapted for the screen by Dominic Morris and Gurinder Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges, The Neverending Pillow Fort is produced by Crayola Studios, Alceon Entertainment Partners, Eclectik Vision, MIMO Studios and Like A Photon Creative. Crayola Studios serves as both producer and financier, with production support provided by Screen Queensland’s Post Digital and Visual rebate incentive.

Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates produced for Like a Photon Creative, alongside Cyma Zarghami and Madeira Ginley for MIMO Studios, with Rick Glankler and Kerry Crowley exec producing for Crayola Studios.

The project reunites Sola Media with Like A Photon Creative and MIMO Studios following their work together on The Pout-Pout Fish, an animated feature starring Nick Offerman, Nina Oyama, Miranda Otto and more that released in the U.S. in March.

“Building on our successful collaboration with Like A Photon Creative and MIMO Studios for The Pout-Pout Fish, we are excited to partner again on this new project,” said Sola Media’s Managing Director, Solveig Langeland. “With the support of the beloved Crayola brand, we are convinced Maggie and Abbie will not only travel to all pillow forts all around the world but also connect kids and families that will be watching the film in theatres worldwide.”

Cullen is repped by CESD and Linsten Management; Tennant by Independent Talent Group and UTA; Pearce by CAA, Independent Talent Group, Shanahan Management, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Palmer by CAA, Shanahan Management, Entertainment 360, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Martin by UTA, M88, and Gang, Tyre, Ramer; and Brownmoore by Fourth Wall Management.

Director Aoife McArdle (Severance) is lining up Foxfinder, a psychological thriller set to star BAFTA and Emmy award-nominee Tessa Thompson (Creed), Golden Globe and Emmy winner Owen Cooper (Adolescence) and two-time Emmy winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear).

Cornerstone and Logical Pictures Group will co-rep international sales and distribution and will launch sales at Cannes. WME Independent, Cornerstone and Logical Pictures Group are jointly representing the U.S. rights.

The synopsis reads: “The lives of Jude and Sam, a grieving couple clinging to routine and survival, are upended when William, a coldly devout government “foxfinder,” arrives at their struggling farm with a mission to root out the designated enemy – the fox. As paranoia festers and absurd regulations tighten their grip, suspicion replaces love, and truth itself begins to warp.”

Production is set to begin in Germany, with filming taking place in Bavaria in summer 2026. The film is based on the play by Dawn King, with a screenplay co-written by director Aoife McArdle and King.

Pic is a Rabbit Track Pictures and Elation Pictures production developed with Film4 and the BFI, co-produced by Komplizen Film (Toni Erdmann) and Trimafilm. In addition to support from Film4 and the BFI, financiers include Logical Pictures Group, German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), the Bavarian fund FFF Bayern and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

Producers are Kamilla Hodøl and Emilie Jouffroy for Elation Pictures, and Rabbit Track Pictures’ Kitty Kaletsky (King & Conqueror), Janine Jackowski (Sentimental Value) and David Armati Lechner (Home Stories) from Trimafilm. Executive producers are Farhana Bhula and Cate Kane for Film4 and Fred Fiore and Ryan Wickers for Logical.

Kamilla Hodøl and Emilie Jouffroy commented: “Aoife is a visionary storyteller, and her bold and cinematic take on Foxfinder will be both epic and deeply probing. We are thrilled to be bringing it to life with such a stellar cast and supportive backers.”

Kitty Kaletsky added: “Foxfinder’s searing and absurdist examination of tyranny, prejudice and scape-goating feels more timely with every week that goes by and the play and film’s themes will resonate with audiences all around the world.”

Farhana Bhula, Director of Film4 commented: “Supporting Aoife on her second feature alongside her dedicated producers has been a priority for Film4. She’s an exceptional filmmaker of remarkable precision and imagination. Foxfinder speaks powerfully to our current moment, and we’re thrilled to see it brought to life by such an extraordinary cast.”

Tessa Thompson is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and JTWAMM. Ebon Moss-Bachrach is represented by WME, Barking Dog Entertainment, and Peikoff Mahan Law Offices. Owen Cooper is represented by Independent Talent Group and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. McArdle is represented by 42 and WME and Dawn King by Berlin Associates.

{blackbabes} Nedra Talley Ross Dies: Last Surviving Member Of The Ronettes Was 80

Nedra Talley Ross, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and the last surviving member of the ’60s-era pop group The Ronettes has died, according to a post on the group’s Facebook page. She was 80.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross’ passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her,” the post began. “As a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedra’s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the group’s story and their defining influence will live forever…”

Born Nedra Yvonne Talley, she and her cousins Veronica “Ronnie” Bennett and Estelle Bennett were raised in Spanish Harlem, where they sang at Bar Mitzvahs and school dances as The Darling Sisters.

They teamed up with producer Phil Spector in 1963 and were renamed The Ronettes. The following year, the group released its only studio album, Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica. During that time, the Rolling Stones opened for the Ronettes when they toured the UK. Two years later, the Ronettes opened for the Beatles in the U.S. They broke up shortly thereafter.

Nedra then married her boyfriend Scott Ross and changed her name to Nedra Talley Ross. Ronnie married Phil Spector and became Ronnie Spector.

The Ronettes’ best-known song, “Be My Baby,” spent three weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. The song — which the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson famously has said is “the greatest record ever produced” — was co-written by Spector, whose intense “Wall of Sound” production style is personified by the track.

It wasn’t just Wilson who was a fan.

Martin Scorsese made powerful use of the tune as the opening credits scene of his breakout film, Mean Streets. The director also used the group’s version of “Frosty the Snowman” in Goodfellas.

Their songs have been featured in close to 100 movies and TV shows, including Quadrophenia, Twist + Shout, Moonlighting, Dirty Dancing, The Wonder Years, Nine Months, How I Met Your Mother, Fred Claus, The Wrecking Crew!, Glee, The Simpsons, Pretty Little Liars, Bridget Jones’s Baby, Billions, Industry, Barbarian, Priscilla, The Bear and many more.

“Be My Baby” was by the far the Ronettes’ biggest hit. None of their other singles reached the top 20, though 1964’s “Walking in the Rain” also is recognized as a classic.

After breaking out with “Be My Baby,” the group had a moderate follow-up hit with “Baby, I Love You.” A couple of minor hits later, “Walking in the Rain” hit No. 23 in late 1964. All seven of their Hot 100 singles were produced by Phil Spector. Most of those songs — including “(Best Part of) Breaking Up” and “Do I Love You?” — were on the late-1964 LP … Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica, which peaked at No. 96 and would be their only charting album.

The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, three years after they joined the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
