After an alleged, bizarre bust-up with actor Russell Crowe, Harlem rapper Azealia Banks is vowing to stay out of the news for anything but her music.
"These past few days have been rough," Banks posted on Instagram Tuesday night — after she'd claimed over the weekend in a since-deleted Facebook post that Crowe "choked me, threw me out and spat at me" at a Beverly Hills Hotel suite.
"Although this situation was beyond my control," she wrote on Instagram, "I promise you all that this is the last time I will be in the news for anything negative."
The controversial, outspoken rapper claimed that Crowe drank a cocktail mix of vodka and moonshine before choking, spitting and calling her a racial slur at a party in his hotel room. But Crowe's guests have come to his defense including the comedian Jim Jefferies, who tweeted: "Azelia [sic] Banks is a complete liar. I was in the room. Russell Crowe is completely innocent. I would take a lie detector."
On Tuesday, Banks — who's been involved in a series of headline-grabbing incidents, including being banned from Twitter and an arrest last December outside Meatpacking District club Up&Down for allegedly attacking a female security guard — took a cue from Donald Trump of all people by encouraging her fans to include the hashtag "#makeazealiagreatagain" after comments related to her on social media.
"I am on a mission to completely immerse myself in selfies, songs, music videos, fashion, beauty and love," she posted. "Somewhere along the way the I got sucked into this never-ending war with media that I quite honestly don't have the energy, patience, or care to keep fighting. I give up and I give in."
Crowe's rep didn't get back to us.
