Walking a mile in these shoes oughta come with a parental warning.
This radio giant—no stranger to skimpy or otherwise scandalous attire—outdid herself this week, when she let her footwear do the talking (the potty talking, that is) while overseas, putting on shoes scrawled with graffiti messages, most prominent among them, "f--k off."
We've heard of statement pieces—but this here is a real expletive piece! So, which pop star fashionista wore her heart on her sleeve foot?
Don't tread on her—it's Rihanna!
Dressed in an otherwise conservative (especially for her!) Alexander McQueen schoolgirl-like tartan dress with her hair in innocent ringlet curls, fans only needed to direct their gaze southward to get the full effect of the outfit she wore to perform "We Found Love" on the U.K.'s X Factor this week.
Her laddered tights gave way to the cuss-filled shoes, which are something of a custom job.
The footwear itself was designed by Ashish Gupta, and the shoes are meant to be used as a blank canvas for the wearer—which means all that cussin' was all Rihanna's doing.
Of course, in fairness to the superstar, the shoe scrawling wasn't noticed until long after she left the stage. Way to stay on top of your game, censors of family-friendly programming.
A spokesman for the show noted that "there were no close-up shots of Rihanna's shoes" on the aired show and stuck by the artist, saying, "We believe the performance was suitable."
So says the media police. Whether the Fashion Police agree is a whole other story.
