Rap sensation Nicki Minaj has been left devastated following the murder of her cousin.

The Moment 4 Life hitmaker has taken to her Twitter.com account to pay tribute to her relative, called Nicholas, who was killed in New York on Sunday.

Sharing the sad news with her fans, she writes, "Lived in Brooklyn his whole life. My precious cousin. My baby. Killed last nite. My cousin Nicholas. Also goes by Juse... Murdered. Last nite. Near his home. Brooklyn, NY."

Minaj also posted photos of her late relative on her Twitter.com page.

Her revelation prompted fans across the world to send their condolences to the hip-hop star, and R&B singer Jordin Sparks was one of the first famous names to express her sorrow.

Sparks writes, "Nicki Minaj sending love & prayers to you and your family."
