Author and TV writer Alanna Bennett (XO, Kitty, Roswell, New Mexico) is developing her latest novel, the YA title The Education of Kira Greer, for TV with Gabrielle Union via her I'll Have Another prodco, and alongside Dwyane Wade and Jon Marcus for 59th & Prairie Entertainment. The TV adaptation has been optioned by Fox Entertainment Studios.
The book was published and released by Knopf Penguin Random House in May 2025 as part of a two-book deal. The title has been optioned by FOX Entertainment Studios and is in development.
The Education of Kia Greer follows one of Hollywood's most famous families and the unfiltered coming of age of their second-youngest daughter, Kia. Complications arise when Kia enters a PR relationship with pop star Cassius Campbell and begins to question her place in the fame machine. The series is equal parts sweeping romance and searing exploration of fame and family in the social media age.
Bennett is a screenwriter, author, and journalist. She has recently served as a producer on S2 of XO, Kitty for Netflix. Prior to that, she was co-producer on The Hospital's second season for Amazon and served as executive story editor on XO, Kitty. Additional credits include the CW's Roswell, New Mexico series as a story editor. Bennett recently wrote her original feature rom-com Corinne Aster's Third Act, which she sold as a pitch to Orion Pictures. Putting on her director's hat, Bennett worked on Fox's Meet Cute — she directed and produced the prodco's February series Couldn't Be You, as well as their series Chef's Kiss. Bennett is repped by Untitled Entertainment, CAA, Frankfurt Kurnit Klein and Selz, and HG Literary.
Founded by Wade and named after the street he grew up on in the Southside of Chicago, 59th & Prairie Entertainment is a two-time Emmy-winning, Oscar and Tony-nominated production company telling new and untold stories.
In 2018, Union launched her production company, I'll Have Another, which is a nod to her NYT best-selling memoir "We're Going to Need More Wine". The company focuses on storytelling that surrounds centering marginalized communities with their specific point of view in an authentic manner.
