Venus Williams is serving up some new skincare!
The tennis pro, 39, has teamed up with Credo Beauty to create two mineral sunscreen products that she hopes will put an end to a common problem with zinc-based SPFs: that cakey, chalky residue.
"SPF is a part of my daily routine because I spend so much time outdoors as a result of my job, and through the years I found that a lot of natural sunscreens left a white cast on my skin," Williams, who has been riding out the coronavirus pandemic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, says.
"That's why with EleVen by Venus, we wanted to set a new standard for clean beauty and ensure our sunscreens is versatile, lightweight and blends with all skin tones. It really works for everyone!"
The EleVen by Venus x Credo On-the-Defense SPF 30 Sunscreen ($42) has a semi-matte finish and works for everyday wear and outdoor activities. The Unrivaled Sun Serum SPF 35 ($50) contains prickly pear for extra hydration, and is silky, yet quick-drying and can be worn alone or under makeup or moisturizer.
Both formulas contain 25 percent zinc oxide — they're physical rather than chemical sunscreens — and are also reef-safe.
Williams, who says she has sensitive skin and is now "crazy about skincare," admits that she wasn't always on the ball when it came to sun protection.
"I was bad for years. Serena really inspired me, we would practice side by side and I'd see her all the time in sunscreen and long sleeves," Williams said on Instagram Live announcing the collaboration. "Finally one day I realized what I was doing to my skin by not protecting it."
Williams' first foray into sun protection was in her Eleven by Venus activewear line, which features several designs made with UPF 50 fabric.
