Serena Williams is putting her money where her mouth is when it comes to fighting inequality.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion is now an investor in female-first shaving brand Billie. "I'm a lifelong proponent of equality for women — on and off the court," Williams, 35, said in a press release. "Women not only make less than men but are also charged more for women's products, the so-called 'Pink Tax.'"
Billie's direct-to-consumer offerings include razors, shave cream, body wash and body lotion, and are priced from $9 for a set of two razors to $12 for body wash. The company also donates one percent of all revenue to women's causes around the world.
Williams joins celebrities like Drew Barrymore and Lena Dunham, who have endorsed the brand on social media.
"I'm proud to become an investor in Billie, an inclusive female body brand that's raising awareness and tackling this inequity head on," Williams said in her statement. "The shaving industry is dominated by male brands which have traditionally overcharged and underserved women."
Williams is one of the world's highest-paid athletes, with an investment portfolio to match. The tennis champ currently serves on the board of consumer survey startup SurveyMonkey, started her own fashion line earlier this year and, along with sister Venus, is a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins.
