Jada Pinkett Smith took to Twitter to vent after her movie "Girls Trip" and co-star Tiffany Haddish didn't earn Golden Globe nominations.
"I'm not upset about @TiffanyHaddish or @GirlsTripMovie not getting a nom," the actress began. "I'm discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/ @GoldenGlobes wouldn't even WATCH the movie."
The 46-year-old continued to explain that the movie, which was released in July, was one of the most successful films of the summer. Box Office Mojo estimates it earned a whopping $115 million so far.
"How could a nom happen & how much more critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?" Pinkett Smith argued. "But yet… Tiff has been asked to present at their ceremony. This isn't about shaming, this is about the need for discussion on an antiquated system."
She noted that "Hollywood has systems in place that must learn to expand its concepts of race, gender equality and including in regard to its perceptions of art across the board."
This isn't the first time Pinkett Smith has spoken out during awards season.
In January 2016, she boycotted the Oscars over the lack of diversity among nominees in acting categories.
"At the Oscars… people of color are always welcomed to give out awards… even entertain," she said at the time. "But we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments. Should people of color refrain from participating all together?"
