Serena Williams' two-month-old daughter will have to wait a little while longer for her closeup.
The tennis ace, who currently stars in Gatorade's female empowerment ad, "Sisters in Sweat," cradles a baby in the commercial, with many believing the infant to be her only child, Alexis Olympia. But as Ad Age reported Monday, a stand-in was used instead.
"While Serena intended to have Olympia make her screen debut as part of this film, her daughter was under the weather and unable to be on set, but the sentiment remains the same," a Gatorade spokeswoman told the magazine via email.
The nearly two-minute clip, released Monday, includes a voiceover from Williams, 36, as she offers her baby girl and other young women advice.
"Baby girl, I won't mind if you play tennis badly. I won't mind if you choose to never pick up a racket. But I beg you, in this game of life, please keep playing no matter what," Williams said.
Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 34, welcomed their first child together in early September. The couple wed in New Orleans last week, almost a year after announcing their engagement.
