"I was pissed," Williams says of her loss in the finals at the French Open, during a panel at the premiere of the documentary Serena, about her life. "After Australia I was sad and hurt, and after the French I was more pissed."
"I don't know why the emotions were different, but they were definitely different. But I was really pissed and I was angry, and in fact I left my rackets in France."
The 34-year-old believes she lost partly because of the pressure to win her 22 Grand Slam title, which would leave her tied with Steffi Graf for the most ever in the Open Era, but places the majority of the blame on herself.
"After I won the first set I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm a maximum 3 sets away from history,' " she says. "And I definitely felt a little nervous there, but ultimately it came down to I didn't play right I didn't do the right things, I wasn't aggressive."
But that loss isn't going to stop her from storming in for a win at Wimbledon in July.
"I feel more than ready," Williams says. "It feels weird, like I just feel super strong and I feel super confident and I don't think I felt that confidence that I needed to feel, like I had it but I wasn't feeling it from inside from my chest. So I really just feel super confident."
