What does a writer have to do to score an interview with Beyoncé? Have at least one very powerful parent, it seems.
On Monday, Elle magazine published a preview of a "rare" interview with the singer. The writer wasn't the type of big name usually attached to such a high-profile story: Instead it was written by Tamar Gottesman, a journalist who'd previously penned just nine stories for the magazine, all of which were published in 2014.
So how did Gottesman snag such a prime assignment? Well, as Lainey Gossip points out, it just so happens that her dad, billionaire hedge fund manager Noam Gottesman, is pals with both Beyoncé and Jay Z. The couple even attended his wedding last summer.
The site points to an online record of a 2011 Daily Mail story in which Gottesman and two if his daughters shared a helicopter ride with the music power couple during the Glatsonbury Festival.
"On one occasion, Beyoncé and her rapper husband were flown back for lunch, where to the delight of Gottesman's two elder daughters, Maya, 18, and Tamar, 20, Beyoncé gave the girls an impromptu dance lesson," the British paper reported at the time.
The full story — the teaser announced the singer's activewear line, Ivy Park — is set to go up on the magazine's website on Tuesday.
