Janet Jackson returned to the stage Monday night to kick off her Unbreakable World Tour in Vancouver, her first time on the road in four years.
Opening the night with an unreleased song (reportedly called "Burn It Up") that featured Missy Elliott rapping on video screen, the star made her way through a set that included two more new tracks, her latest single "No Sleeep" and a plethora of hits, from "Rhythm Nation" to "Scream." (To mark her return, PEOPLE caught up with Jackson's longtime hairstylist to recall her most memorable 'dos.)
Jackson – who secretly married Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana in 2012 – has been out of the spotlight the past few years but re-emerged earlier this summer.
Due early this fall, Unbreakable will be Jackson's first album since Discipline was released seven years ago, and she's teaming up once again with hitmakers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
"I think it's totally different from any of her other albums. But it feels like her," Jam recently told EW. "At the end of the day, I go back to that. The thing about this album is there's a lot of different places that it touches, but at the end of the day, it's pure Janet."
