Regina King (Southland) is set for a starring role opposite Bill Burr in FX comedy pilot Pariah. Co-created by It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia writer-producers John Chernin and Dave Chernin and directed by Sunny creator Rob McElhenney, Pariah centers on Joe Abbott (Burr), a volatile TV personality who is exiled from show business after an on-air meltdown and forced to navigate society as a man with no apparent skills. King, repped by ICM Partners and John Carrabino Management, recently wrapped shooting a series-long arc on John Ridley's upcoming ABC drama, American Crime. Earlier this year, King won the 2014 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Direction in a Drama series for her critically acclaimed episode of TNT's Southland as well as directed the BET feature Let the Church Say Amen slated to air on the network next year. She is also set to direct an upcoming episode of ABC's hit show Scandal this season. Her other TV acting credits include  The Strain, The Big Bang Theory, Shameless and 24. The Chernins executive produce Pariah alongside McElhenney, Nick Frenkel, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton.

Daisy Betts has landed a lead role in Syfy's Childhood's End, a six-hour miniseries based on Arthur C. Clarke's classic to premiere in 2015. It follows the peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, whose arrival begins decades of apparent utopia under indirect alien rule, at the cost of human identity and culture. Betts, repped by ICM Partners and Greenlight Management, will play Ellie, a Tribeca Arts graduate engaged to marry Ricky (Mike Vogel). Her TV credits include Chicago Fire, Last Resort and Harry's Law.
