For better or worse, America loves Rihanna. Fans love her so much, in fact, that she will be the first-ever American Music Awards icon. Winners at the American Music Awards (airing live on ABC, Nov. 24, 8 p.m. ET/tape delay PT) are determined entirely by fans. Whether they voted for her because of her twerking-in-the-water music video or her dance move that involves making a heart shape with her hands around her crotch, OR if fans voted for her despite her questionable choreography, is neither here nor there. That she collaborates with just about every music star in the industry doesn't hurt, either.

At the end of the day, she sings a catchy tune.

She joins a heavy-hitting lineup: Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Jennifer Lopez, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, One Direction, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and TLC. With Pitbull as the host, the awards show is bound to be a good time.
