Before making a surprise appearance at the Out100 Gala on Thursday, Nov. 14, in New York City, Mariah Carey decided to have a little photo shoot at home with her daughter, Monroe Cannon, and some of her own vintage magazine covers.

The 43-year-old songstress looked positively fierce in a long black corseted gown, which flaunted her curves and cleavage to perfection, paired with black leather gloves. Her honey-colored locks were sleek and down, and she completed the look with statement earrings, a smoky eye, nude lips and a black fan. Carey appears three times in this pic, thanks to some framed snapshots of the former American Idol judge displayed on the walls.

"On my way to Out 100!" The Butler actress captioned the Instagram photo.

Looks like Monroe is trying to emulate her mother, striking a serious pose with the fan.

Carey waited patiently—and took some photographs backstage—before accepting an award on Lee Daniels' behalf.

"I'm so happy to be here tonight," Carey said to the adoring crowd. "I'm a straight girl— don't really know why they asked me to be here, but my boobs have been out for years."
