NEW YORK (AP) -- Venus and Serena Williams rallied from down a set and from down a break in the third to win their first-round doubles match at the U.S. Open.
A day after Venus was eliminated in singles in the second round, the sisters beat Spaniards Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Carla Suarez Navarro 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3 on Thursday in front of a big crowd at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Serena won her second-round match earlier in the day, beating Galina Voskoboeva 6-3, 6-0.
The sisters have won 13 Grand Slam doubles titles together, though they didn't enter the French Open or Wimbledon this year. They are unseeded at Flushing Meadows.
Venus lost to Zheng Jie 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (5) on Wednesday.
