Score one for Kerry Washington!
A source confirms to E! News exclusively that the Scandal star is dating San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
His manager Mark Holden, of Zero Gravity Management, is not able to confirm or deny the relationship. Meanwhile, Washington's rep tells E! News that "we don't comment on our client's personal life."
Over the years, the 36-year-old actress has kept her private life, well, private following her 2007 breakup with fiancé David Moscow, the actor who played the young Tom Hanks in Big.
As for Asomugha, the 31-year-old NFL star played with the Oakland Raiders for eight seasons and the Philadelphia Eagles for two before signing with the 49ers in April. He, too, has a little acting experience under his helmet belt, having appeared on The Game, Friday Night Lights and Leverage.
Both Washington and Asomugha are dedicated activists and philanthropists and they are involved with the William J. Clinton Foundation.
Speaking of Clinton, Washington had nothing but praise for the former commander in chief's wife, Hillary Clinton, when E! News caught up with the Django Unchained star at last month's CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.
"I've met Hillary. I think she's amazing," Washington said. "I think she's phenomenal and inspiring!"
Meanwhile, in Elle magazine's June 2013 issue, Washington noted that, between the success of Scandal and Django Unchained, she feels like "the luckiest broad in Hollywood now."
Of course, Asomugha himself no doubt feels pretty lucky after landing such a beautiful babe.
Case in point? The stunning cover for Vanity Fair's latest issue on which Washington can be seen clad in a sexy white one-piece.
In an interview with the mag, Washington says she's very aware of the fact that Scandal is not just a TV phenomenon, but it's also breaking color barriers as well, with the actress being only the second black woman in almost 40 years to lead a network drama.
"One of the most profound things for me about the show is the number of white women of all ages who come up to me and say, 'I want to be Olivia Pope,'" she says. "It's especially profound in a place like South Africa. It's called The Fixer over there, and it just started its second season. The fact that white women can see this woman of color as an aspirational character is revolutionary...I don't think white women would feel that way about Olivia if her identity as a woman, period, wasn't first in their mind."
Washington will reprise her role when the show returns this September. Until then, she'll most likely be spending quality time with Asomugha.
