Rihanna faced the wrath of her fans on Monday night when she was booed for keeping them waiting for three hours at a rescheduled concert in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Umbrella star had originally cancelled the date on her Diamonds World Tour in March after falling ill with a bout of laryngitis, but returned to the city on Monday to perform at the TD Garden venue.

However, fans faced a three-hour wait for the singer to start her show as there was no opening act to keep the thousands of revellers entertained.

In a video uploaded to YouTube.com (warning -- foul language), the crowd can be heard booing the empty stage as fans await the start of the gig.

The upset didn't seem to faze Rihanna - she later took to Twitter.com to thank fans for turning out, writing, "BOSTON I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!!"
