WIMBLEDON, England (AP) -- Venus and Serena Williams began a bid for their third Olympic doubles gold medal by beating Sorana Cirstea and Simona Halep of Romania 6-3, 6-2 Monday.
The victory on Court 2 at Wimbledon came hours after the sisters advanced in singles.
Venus is trying to become the first player to win four gold medals in Olympic tennis. She and Serena won the gold in doubles in 2000 and 2008.
