Actress Angela Bassett had an awkward encounter with Ike Turner on a street in LA after she'd played his ex-wife Tina Turner in the biopic "What's Love Got to Do with It?" She said at the 92nd Street Y event "Broadway Talks with Jordan Roth": "I saw [Ike] coming towards me. We locked eyes, and I'm thinking, 'Oh, boy. There's Ike. What's he going to say?' He smiled big and said, 'Listen, I'm working on my own movie, and I want you to be in it.' " But no movie was ever made.
